Brother Prichard won the hearts of his hearers by his fatherly interest in all as well as by his very helpful exposition of the Epistle to the Hebrews. Brother Horton showed us the hopelessness of human nature and lifted up our Lord Jesus Christ so that we saw Him anew and worshipped Him. Brother Farr charmed us and held our closest attention while he unfolded to us the Revelation. The true believer in the Scriptures goes with an unprejudiced mind, truly, humbly, honestly desirous of knowing, what is true. No matter who lives or dies;' who goes up or who goes down, what is truth must be and ever is the supreme inquiry of honest and teach able spirits. Men are prone to believe what is handed on to them from one genera tion to another without personal inquiry into the foundations and roots of the doctrines they were required to accept. Do not call such acceptance by the noble name of FAITH. Those who ' accept doctrines in that fashion are not students, scholars or enquirers; they are merely passive and indifferent custodians, uttering words which have in them no rays of life and no reality. Would that we could all come to the Bible afresh, divesting the mind of everything we ever heard, and reading the Scriptures through from end to end, turning over every page with the breath of this prayer, “ SPIRIT DIVINE, SHOW ME WHAT IS TRUTH.” Every man would then have the Bible richly dwelling in him, not as a series of sep arate and isolated texts, but as a spirit, a genius, a revelation, a guardian angel.’’-^—Dr. Joseph Parker.
