Perhaps Terra Futura’s most radical element is not physical at all - it’s relational. Jack’s fluency in Spanish has allowed them to build strong connections within Asheville’s Spanish-speaking trade community, weaving trust across every phase of construction. “Construction has so many moving parts,” Kelsey explains. “Usually, each trade blames the one before them — the framers blame the block guys, the trim guys blame the framers. But when your block mason recommends your framer, and your framer recommends your stucco crew, you get collaboration instead of conflict.” They also draw heavily from their Green Built Alliance network to find partners who understand their ecological goals. And they treat collaborators as co- creators, exploring profit-sharing models and even considering converting their development company into a worker- owned cooperative. “Every vision needs hands to bring it to life,” Kelsey says. “Ours are guided by care.” “By knowing our neighbors and sharing
