Les Nationals ont rendu visite aux Cana- dians de Carleton Place le 3 mars dernier. Encore une fois, l’offensive de Rockland a fait défaut. Bien qu’aucune des deux équipes n’ait marqué en première période, l’attaquant de Carleton Place, Elliot McDermott, a réussi à marquer en deuxième, aidé de Brett Thorne et Ben Tupker. Rockland a répondu lors de la dernière période, à la suite d’un but de Nicolas Chartrand, aidé du capitaine assistant Josh Norman et de William Collins. Mais le spectre de la partie du 1er mars est venu hanter les Nationals, puisque McDermott, aidé de Andrej Hromic et Peyton Francis, a marqué en fin de période, donnant ainsi la victoire aux Canadians 2-1.

Les Nationals de Rockland en ont eu plein les bras lors de leurs deux der- nières parties. L’offensive du club, qui ordinairement domine ses opposants, ne semblait pas être en mesure d’en faire du pareil. Ils affrontaient les Hawks de Hawkesbury, le 1er mars dernier, au Complexe sportif Ro- bert Hartley. L’attaquant des Hawks, Bradley Shaw, a marqué lors de la première période, aidé de son coéquipier, Luke Grainger. Rockland a réussi à marquer à son tour lors de la deuxième période, lorsque le capitaine assistant Wade Brennan a trouvé le fond du filet des Hawks, aidé de Matthew Vermaeten et Benjamin Pruneau. Mais un dernier but de la part des Hawks, en troisième, a cimenté la victoire du club. Jérémie Lavallee, aidé de Lucas Yovetich et Mike Nantais, a compté en fin de match.Les Hawks ont remporté la partie 2-1. It’s off to the NCJHL semifinals now for the Clarence Creek Castors after they slammed the Gatineau Hull-Volant four games straight in the quarter-finals. The Castors won their fourth and final game against Gatineau 4-3 February 26 on the Volant’s home ice. That moves them on to the semifinal round in the National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL). Patrick Lemay punched in two goals for Clarence Creek with Zack Lugli and Sam Paquette tallying singles. Assisting on the scoring were Lugli, Tyler Baker, Matthew Clifford, Kyle Green, Nathan Melée, and Jonah Peters, with Andrew Larivière guarding the net. The Castors have more reasons to cele- brate the 2018-2019 hockey season with some new additions to their trophy collection. Clarence Creek received the NCJHL East Division Champions title with a final total of 59 points for the club’s win-loss results throughout the regular season. They were also named the Top Defensive Team of the league with 95 goals-against record. Castors Patrick Lemay received the NCJHL’s MVP award and the Best Defensive Forward nomination while goalie Corey Cami- rand earned the NCJHL’s Best Goaltender award. Castors General Manager André Roy was named league Executive of the Year. The Castors have their first semifinals match Friday night at home against the North Dundas Rockets. St-Isidore It’s the end of the season now for St- Isidore in the National Capital Junior Hockey League. The North Dundas Rockets move on to the semifinals after winning the quarter-final series between the two clubs four games to one in the best of seven schedule. Royals four games to three. The Royals won the March 1 game in Ot- tawa 4-2 with goals from William Lachapelle, Samuel Paquette, Luigi Peloso, and Joshua Renaud. Assists came from Lachapelle, Samuel Constantineau, Alexandre Dionne, and Nathan Gonyou, with Danik Gervais guarding the net. Nikolas Ayotte scored both of the Cougars goals, with help from Samuel Lacroix, Hugo Blanchard, Keean McEachern, and Danny Plourde-Grenon. Frederick Durocher was in the net. Saturday at the Vankleek Hill Arena the Cougars tied up the quarter-finals tally with a 5-3 win thanks to a hat trick by Justin Labrosse, with single goals from Tyler Dopel- hamer and Jonathan Lacroix. Assisting on the goals were Dopelhamer, Lacroix, Ryan Allen, Nikolas Ayotee, Zacharie Leblanc, Keean McEachern, and Jacob Trempe, with Alexander Labrèche guarding the net. Samuel Paquette scored two goals for the Royals with Luigi Peloso popping in a single. Goal assists came from Peloso, Samuel Constantineau, Alexandre Dionne, and Mathieu Laurin, with Tye Agardy and Danik Gervais splitting goaltending duty. The final game Sunday in Vankleek Hill saw the Cougars crown the Royals 11-4. Fre- derick Durocher blocked the net against the Royals while the Cougars Ryan Allen scored four goals for his team, with a pair each each also from Nikolas Ayotte and Justin Labrosse. Finishing off the tally with singles were Hugo Blanchard, Vincent Huneault and Jonathan Leblanc. The Cougars and the South Grenville Rangers begin their semifinals series March 9 at the Cardinal Arena then face off Sunday afternoon in Vankleek Hill. Third game will be next Tuesday night back at the Cardinal Arena. Keean McEachern has another reason to remember the 2018-2019 season. He was named Best Defenceman during the National Capital Junior Hockey League’s annual awards ceremony.

The final game at the Chesterville Arena March 1 finished 3-2 for North Dundas, with two goals again from Roth and a single from Colette. Assists came from Matthew Cowley, Tom Fingler, and Jarrett Williams, with Tondreau blocking the net.

Scoring for St-Isidore were Howson and Wells again, with assists from Brunette, Tyler Druce, and Bruno Leclerc, with Irving in the net. Jacob Brunette earned himself the Top Scorer honour for his season’s goals tally during the league’s end-of-season awards ceremony. Kevin Howson was named the Most Sportsmanlike Player in the league.
