ment of Science, with over 14,000 mem bers, voted for evolution without a dis senting vote. Prof, Duncan finds Baby lonian analogies for the Genesis account of the origin of evil. Need we say more? Let us hope that those who are looking for a “textbook for school and home” will find something that really brings out some of the wonderful discoveries of archeol ogy which corroborate the Scripture, rather than the liberal views set forth in this volume. Revell’s price is $1.75. This well-bound volume published by John Ritchie of Scotland, brings us in a simple way the story of our English Bible. The leading features in the wonderful story of the development of the Bible will be found here. Young readers will find it full of interest and it will be of use to all who have not time or opportunity to study the subject exhaustively. It is well these days that we should know what our Bible meant to our forefathers as evi denced by their untiring zeal and labor in translating and circulating it. In U. S. this book will cost $1.00. — o — T h rough Peril an d Flam e B y J. L. E rck

Walking W ith God B y H arvey F armer

This is a very attractive brochure pub lished by the Bible Institute Colportage Association of Chicago (25c). Mr. Far mer is field secretary of the North Africa Mission and devotes any profits resulting from the sale of the booklet to the fur therance of the Gospel. He gives us a very choice line of comment on Gen. 5:21- 24. Those who desire to know the blessed ness of a closer walk with God, will find much for the strengthening of faith in this study. — o — The Call an d Challenge of th e Unseen B y D r . F. B. M eyer , D.D. The presses of Revell Company have given us this- latest volume of devotional and evangelical addresses by the beloved preacher, Dr. F. B. Meyer of London. Many, of thè messages contained in this book were delivered in America and heartily received, during Dr. Meyer’s last visit to this land. The vital topics dis cussed are revealed in the chapter head ings : “The Brooding Spirit,” “The Vic tory of Calvary,” “Preparing Peter for Pentecost,” “The Dynamic of Pentecost,” “The Law of the Spirit.” There are fif teen addresses in all. K ernahan Dr. Kernahan’s plan of visitation evan gelism is well known to the churches and it must be admitted that it has its merits. The great question is: “Does it work?” There is no doubt but that it works for time and eternity when it is put into effect by people who have a real vision of win ning souls. In an earlier book, Dr, Ker nahan told how the plan developed, and outlined specific suggestions for carrying it out. In this book published by Revell ($1.50) he gives concrete stories of re markable results attained in many churches. Those who read it should cer tainly be fired with enthusiasm for the winning of men to Jesus Christ. These stories cover the reigns of Saul, David and Solomon, and are exceedingly well told. The author made a study of reliable commentaries to get the manners and customs of the times, so the stories are fresh and attractive and adapted to fix the central teaching in the child mind. While this book is primarily for work ers with children and contains a chapter on how to use Bible stories, boys and girls woitld enjoy reading the stories them selves. Revell is the publisher. 221 pages, price $2.00.—O. G. B. — o — K ingdom S tories for Ju n io rs B y E lizabeth S. W hitehouse

C ruden ’s Concordance B y A lex . C ruden

The author of this book published by Revell is professor of Egyptology and As- syriology in American University of Washington, D. C. The book is intended as a textbook for school and home and may be called an applied archeology. It gives in concise form the bearing of these discoveries on some of the more impor tant teachings of the Bible. One does not have to read far, however, to discover that it is written from the viewpoint of the Liberalists. Its author finds two sep arate accounts of creation in the first and second chapters of Genesis, and tells us that probably the author found two dif fering accounts and so placed them side by side in order that everyone might read both traditions and see their agreements and differences. Similarly he tells us there are two differing accounts of the flood. The author declares that archeology sup ports the conclusion of scientists who teach that man came into the world by evolution—he calls it “spiritual and the- istic evolution.” Evolution, he tells us, is well nigh universally accepted by all sci entific men. He reminds us that the American Association for the. Advance — o —
