This time of year I tend to recommend crowd- pleasing wines that are food-friendly and stand up particularly well with heavier dishes that are associated with the fall and winter seasons. These wallet-friendly wines are acceptable for special occasions, and I would recommend any of them to gift to the host at your next holiday gathering.

Robert Mondavi Private Selection

Cabernet Sauvignon · $ 24 .25 750 ml • Sku 2955 • United States

I had the privilege of serving Mr. Mondavi in a restaurant that I worked at in Toronto. He was as classy as his wines, and just as laidback and inviting! This cabernet sauvignon punches well above its weight, featuring ripe black fruits, like plum and black currants, making it a staple for grilled red meats and stews.

E. Guigal Cotes Du Rhone Rosé · $ 29 .42

750 ml • Sku 16329 • France

Bigger in body and alcohol than your typical pink wine, this dry, grenache-blend from the Rhone Valley is the perfect year round rosé. Featuring ample red fruits and a long, plush finish, this award winning wine pairs perfectly with some of the bigger dishes associated with the fall and winter seasons. Try it with a creamy shrimp pasta!

Benjamin Bridge Nova 7 · $ 28 .41

750 ml • Sku 15512 • Canada

If you have a friend or family member who says they do not like wine give them a taste of Benjamin Bridge Nova 7. Hailing from the Annapolis Valley, this frizzante (semi-sparkling) is bursting with both stone and tropical fruits. Featuring only 6% abv, this crowd-pleaser can be enjoyed by those 19 to 99 years old.
