Our ongoing redevelopment of the Fielding Johnson square – transforming the space from a car park, into a vibrant open space at the heart of our campus – further demonstrates our commitment to continually developing our campus to support the needs of our staff and students. We are the first university in the country to launch a partnership with our Students’ Union for on-campus catering and retail facilities, demonstrating our recognition of the importance of campus services contributing to staff and student experience. Since 2010, the University estate has won over 100 construction awards which include the BREEAM worldwide sustainability standard Certificate of Excellence for the Centre for Medicine. The Future The newly formed Division of Estates and Campus Services is the largest division in Professional Services at the University, employing around 680 staff. The Division comprises:

We are embarking on an ambitious programme of investment. The £350 million plus Capital Programme will coordinate physical and financial planning with institutional and academic strategy. The Programme revolves around large–scale redevelopment of on-campus facilities. This is alongside the development of a National Space Park at Abbey Fields and an overseas campus in China. The Director of Estates and Campus commercial and operational strategies that underpin these investments, as well as continuing to shape the Campus Master Plan and Capital Programme that will facilitate them. 2.Establishment of an Estate Development Framework

Long-term infrastructure planning requires the establishment of a coherent and robust masterplan that is sufficiently flexible to respond to changing needs and emerging opportunities. The plan will be supported by a suite of studies that are necessary to secure the approval or endorsement of the local planning authority. 3.Delivering excellent support services The Campus Services Team has recently been created to bring together our academic campus services with our residences and commercial support services. A new Director of Campus Services will lead the future coordination and development of this team. We have a creative approach to the delivery of our Campus Services with a new Retail and Catering Partnership with our Students’ Union being launched this year. Strategic co-ordination of the business support services which exist across the various components of the division is required.
