25 | ACTON-BOXBOROUGH REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT | ANNUAL REPORT 2025–2026

McCarthy-Towne Focus on Assessment Practices • Classroom teachers and special educators collaborated with instructional coaches to refine our assessment practices. Key initiatives included developing com- prehensive writing rubrics, aligning program-based assessments, and creating data visualizations for better insights. • Our Kindergarten team collaborated with the District Management Group and our literacy coach to refine flex block practices, resulting in significant growth in literacy outcomes. Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) • We implemented classroom-based regulation stations in every room, helping students learn effective strategies for taking quick, calming breaks before returning to their academic work. • Our educators continued to implement the Second Step social-emotional learning and anti-bullying curriculum, strengthening our SEL framework across all grade levels. • We maintained tier-two SEL support groups to provide targeted assistance to students, focusing on the CASEL competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making. Art Integration • Students and teachers successfully embedded art into performance tasks directly aligned with the new EL curriculum. We are proud of the collaboration, innovation, and growth our community demonstrated this year. We extend our sincere appreciation to our students, families, and staff for their contributions to our learning community.
