High School
• Community Day: All juniors took the PSAT for the first time. Simultaneously, every grade level engaged in activities for our inaugural Community Day. Ninth graders participated in Teamworks activities, 10th graders visited Fenway Park and TimeOut Market, and 12th graders attended post- secondary workshops and college trips. • Community-Building Flex: We held our 3rd Annual event featuring over fifty workshops, including Ballet Basics, Jazz Jam, Climate Action, Drawing, World Cup Soccer, and The Great Pollinator Rescue. • Student Spotlights: AB Students for Equity and Justice (ABSEJ) hosted the Student Spotlight Series, highlighting identities and perspectives from the Jewish Student Union, Dear Asian Youth, and Multilingual Learners. A Staff Spotlight featured teachers sharing their backgrounds and motivation. • Special Olympics: We hosted the 7th Annual Special Olympics Game Day, bringing together many students and community members for track and field events.
• Advanced Placement Exams: Over the past five years, we have seen a 56% increase in the number of AP exams taken, with the average score remain- ing high edging up from 4.21 to 4.23 out of 5. • World Cultures Week: Students engaged in cultural activities, including International Games, a crêpe- making contest, pétanque, and Junior High French Immersion Day. We heard powerful personal stories from students with roots in South Korea, Nigeria, and beyond. • Scholarship Night: Through community generosity, we awarded over 150 local scholarships to seniors, totaling $157,000 at the 34th Annual Scholarship Night. • New Course Offerings: We are excited to offer new courses next year, including AP African American History, Robotics, AP Art & Design, Jewelry Design, Python, and Popular Music. • Visual Arts: In May, the Annual Senior Art Show showcased incredible student artwork at West Acton Villageworks.
• Student Council: StuCo organized the Homecoming Dance and the Seniors vs. Staff Basketball Game. StuCo also distributed $3,825 in mini-grants to 17 A-B clubs and donated $5,000 to the Acton Food Pantry. • MLK Community Service Day: We honored 508 students at our 26th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award Ceremony, held for the first time as a school assembly in January. • Athletics: The department fielded 68 teams across 36 sports, adding a Fencing Co-op, Unified Bowling, and a Girls Golf Pilot. A-B won numerous Dual County League (DCL) titles and nearly 100 league and regional all-star recognitions. Congratulations to the State Champion Cooperative Fencing Team, our Individual State Champion Pole Vaulter, and our Top 5 State-Ranked Gymnast. We remain committed to our Unified teams as a recognized Unified Champion School.
