Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the second - quarter edition of our Shoo Fee Ma Fee newsletter!

I have been reflecting on the things I am personally most grateful for this last quarter. Primarily among those is the talented group of employees that we have here with us. Thank you for all the hard work you have done for our complex and unforgettable experiences you continue to deliver to our guests! It has been an eventful quarter indeed where we kicked off with the Easter egg - painting competition, launching new learning and development programs, Golden Circle Awareness Week, Global Wellness Day and WAVE Day, where we recognized the achievements, awards and certifications received by our colleagues and celebrated their birthdays. We also observed the holy month of Ramadan where we united in breaking fast at the annual colleague ’ s grand iftar, showing our selflessness is a true essence of our culture here at Shangri - La. Now, for the coming months ahead, let us again focus on delivering excellent guest experiences and memorable stays at Shangri - La. As the summer season will last until September, let ’ s be continue to be collaborative and flexible in maximising our productivity and profitability. Let us not get exhausted from the heat, but rather use its energy to keep us warm and attract new guests.I recognize, and I am proud of each and every one of you and the hard work you continue to put into our business day in and day out. These combined team efforts are what have allowed us to be separate ourselves from the competition, be successful and lead the market, because of that, I would like to THANK YOU for everything you do to make this a terrific place to work.

Mr. Jeevanand Bhaskar - Hygiene and EHSMS Manager had gone to Shangri-La's Le Touessrok Resort & Spa, Mauritius from 20th May to 24th June to support hygiene function of the resort.

Chef Walid Nachar – Sous Chef had gone to Shangri-La's - Eros Hotel, New Delhi to support the Lebanese food promotion from 16th April to 28th April.

Mr. Rasely John Menezes - Assistant Executive Housekeeper has gone to Shangri-La, Singapore from 13th March to 31st August. Mr. Jamil Ansari – Laundry Manager, has gone to Shangri-La, Singapore from 15th May to 15th August.

SLIM LEARNING PROGRAMS

Hygiene Managers workshop at Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa from 15th May to 16th May, attended by Mr. Jeevanand Bhaskar - Hygiene and EHSMS Manager.

Annual Spa & Health Club Development Workshop at Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel, Hong Kong from 6th May to 9th May, attended by Ms. Vanessa Alegre Senior Service Manager - CHI, The Spa.

Global Revenue Optimization Workshop at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok from 8th April to 10th April, attended by

Mr. Kamal Kashyap, Director of Revenue optimization.

LMS Accreditation workshop and Annual L&D Conference at Shangri-La hotel, Dubai from 23rd June to 26th June attended Mr. Selva Thangavel , Learning & Development and Service Excellence Manager and Ms. Aya El Zaher , Learning & Development Coordinator.

BALANCE SCORE CARD AWARENESS COMPETITION To strengthen the BSC awareness, colleagues in each department were challenged to come up a concept and display the BSC information in their department notice board.

At SLAD, our Front office team scored highest points with their creative BSC puzzle theme. At THAD, with creative display of each BSC categories based on its weightage and clear outline of focus areas, housekeeping team emerged as winner.

The Abu Dhabi Terry Fox Run is a non-competitive event where people get together as individuals, families, and groups to raise money for cancer research in Terry’s name. It is a day of celebrating Terry’s legacy and helping to keep alive his dream of finding a cure for cancer. Our team ensures that we participate in this yearly event. It is a great opportunity for us to make a difference in the fight against cancer while commemorating a great Canadian, Terry Fox. Also, it is a manner of involving our workplace in the community and to unite Shangri-La & Traders family for a good cause.

Shangri-La & Traders participated on "Green Call Project" launched by Emirates Environmental Group to help our environment by recycling old mobile phones, Ipads or Tablets for an opportunity to plant a tree sapling in December. On 19th April 2019, SLAD & THAD handed over 133 old mobile phones collected from colleagues and guests.

" Colleagues Gran Iftar 2019"

In celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, we invited our fasting colleagues to join us for a Grand Iftar celebration last 20th May 2019 at Al Nojoom Ballroom. Our wonderful Chef's prepared a mouthwatering selection of Arabic dishes! As Ramadan is the season of giving, we used this opportunity to give 15 surprise gifts to 15 lucky colleagues.
