Ottawa police have charged a man with aggravated assault after a stab- bing incident in Navan last week. A 58-year-old man has been charged with six counts of aggravated assault and assault for the attack on his family, which took place in their home in Navan on Sunday, May 13. The man has been charged for stabbing his wife, a 49-year- old woman. Their 23-year-old daughter is then believed to have intervened by repeat- edly stabbing her father. Ottawa police said the force’s partner- assault unit was investigating the inci- dent, but that they were not seeking any other suspects. La Cité de Clarence-Rockland passe à la prochaine étape concernant sa sou- mission au Défi des villes intelligentes. La Cité a soumis une proposition de transport actif dans le cadre du Défi des Villes Intelligentes, après avoir consulté la population, par sondage, lors des derniers mois. Le Défi, un concours pancanadien lancé par Infrastructure Canada, a comme but d’améliorer la qualité de vie des rési- dents des municipalités par l’innovation, l’analyse de données et la technologie. La Cité de Clarence-Rockland a soumis une proposition de transport actif à l’énoncé de défi suivant : « Clarence-Rockland exploi- tera la technologie des capteurs intelligents et l’analyse géospatiale, afin de favoriser le changement des habitudes en réalisant un réseau de transport actif, permettant à 100 % des résidents d’accéder aux prin- cipales destinations communautaires à pied ou à vélo, pour une ville en santé avec d’innombrables possibilités. » À ce point-ci, cette soumission a été jugée admissible par Infrastructure Canada. Si Clarence-Rockland passe à la prochaine étape, elle recevra un montant de 250 000 $ pour mettre sur pied un projet-pilote. La proposition gagnante sera annoncée à l’hiver 2019 et la municipalité saura d’ici quelques semaines si elle est une des cinq finalistes. The City of Clarence-Rockland’s submission to the Smart Cities Challenge has been confirmed as eligible by Infrastructure Canada. If Clarence-Rockland’s submission moves on to the next stage, it could receive $250,000 to develop a pilot project. The winning proposal will be announced in the winter of 2019 and the municipality will know in a few weeks if it is one of the five finalists. In consulting with the public over the last few months, the City has submitted an active transportation proposal that addresses the following challenge statement: Clarence-Rockland will leverage smart city sensors and geospatial analysis to drive change and create a complete active transportation network, allowing 100 per cent of residents to access key community destinations within walking and bicycling distance, accelerating our progress towards becoming a connected, healthy city that cultivates a sense of place and possibility. —submitted photo
