Précisions Dans l’article intitulé La Caisse populaire Nouvel-Horizon continue de croître , publié en page 4 du Reflet-News de la semaine dernière, nous avons écrit que « la Caisse a retourné 93 400 $ à différents orga- nismes communautaires de la dizaine de villages qu’elle dessert. » Or, cette phrase était suivie d’une citation tirée du rapport annuel et attribuée au président sortant Gaetan Genier qui soutenait que « C’est près d’un million de dollars par jour qui sont redistribués par le Mouvement Des- jardins (…) » Or, ces deux déclarations ne sont aucunement liées puisque la première parle de la Caisse populaire Nouvel-Horizon alors que la deuxième parle du Mouvement Desjardins dans son ensemble. Lawrie Hamilton, Suzanne Perras Campbell, and Lynda Kemp, also represent- ing this year’s gala organizing committee, described themselves as more than happy with the results of the evening.
On May 1 st , the ladies of Russell saw red, and were they ever happy about that! More than $30,000 was raised during the 12 th annual Ladies’ Night that was held last Friday at the Russell Arena. The arena was packed withmore than 500 women, all dressed in red or accessorized with red, who answered the call to help others and also enjoy a real good “Girls Night Out”. “We are grateful for the generous dona- tions of products and services, the support of our event partners, sponsors, and the con- tribution of the ladies who attend our event every year,” said JudyMcFaul, co-chair of the Ladies Night Committee. “Special thanks to the auctioneers, honoured guests, andmany volunteers who graciously donated their time and skills. Together, we have raised more than $300,000 for charitable organiza- tions over the past 12 years.” The Russell Agricultural Society has sponsored the Ladies’ Night gala for more than a decade, with funds dedicated to lo-

Besides the dinner and dance, other events during Ladies’ Night include an auc- tion and various draw prizes, all to both raise funds and raise the level of fun for participants. Before anyone even got onto the dance floor to enjoy a swinging evening, a screen
set-up at the arena for that evening showed that at least $25,000 had already been col- lected within a few hours time. The Russell branch of Scotiabank, one of the event’s main sponsors, had also made its own $5000 contribution for the night in support of Crohn’s research.
