King's Business - 1922-07

T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S times seven. A business man, oppressed, defeated and discouraged, was restored and blessed and has become a bright witness for Christ among his business associates. A bunch of high school lads whom we were privileged to address and invite to Fishermen Club, came out and confessed Jesus as Saviour for the first time before all. A cold, formal church member was transformed into a lover of Jesus and an ardent witness. A young printer pulled by the Holy Spirit out of the slough of despond is now keen in reaching others. One prominent in the Mormon Church writes: “ Since God has chosen you to by my spiritual Dad, I praise Him for the manifestation of His infinite wis dom and love, in His choosing.” Other Fishes in the Net A well educated young man, coming to our overcrowded city, failing to se cure work, in great distress and des pondency, drifted into Biola Hall. The temporal and spiritual help we gave him is accepted with a grateful heart. Soon in answer to prayer he secures an excellent position and returns to reimburse us for all outlay, and mani fests a happy and rejoicing fellowship in his all-sufficient and efficient S-Javiour. A converted dope fiend also comes back to slip two dollars into our, hand .o pass on to the other fellows down and out, in gratitude for all the Lord had done for him. A big six-footer, wear ing Uncle Sam’s clothes, is accosted and presented with a “ Do You Know” tract. He is caught and hooked, just as he is leaving for the Philippine Islands to be gone a year. We have by no means exhausted the list, but these few culled from the past month’s net of fishes simply show what God can do when the net is cast under the guidance and leading of the Master of sea and land. John 21:6. M M BIBLE WOMEN’S WORK Hr*. all. Conviction deepened and lie sought to recall what the Biola worker had told him of God’s Word. Then in the pri vacy of his own room, he received Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, according to John 1:12, and peace came to his soul. We had the privilege of ground ing him in the Word and starting him reading his Bible. The man used of God was- a butcher by profession, but thank God, he’s in the business of catching fish, too. Still another man stood at the entrance listening to the message. When spoken to he said he had professed Christ at the Fisher men Club but lacked assurance and vision of service, both of which were given him from God’s Word. The'Word Grips the Soul Constantly young men are found lis tening to the messages illustrated from the chart. While one of the men was speaking last week, a young man twen ty-five years of age manifested an inter est and when handed a tract, after cas ually reading it, twisted it nervously in his fingers. The speaker noticed this, hastened to finish, and going to him, inquired if he was interested, and receiving an affirmative reply, invited him within, meeting his difficulties and objections by referring to Scripture. Still the fight continued until the Spirit pointed to 1 Cor. 2:13 and brought him to the cross of Jesus. Like many others this man had Christian parents but had drifted, falling in with bad companions, and had been coming around Biola Hall for some time where the Word began to grip his soul. That afternoon all props were knocked from under him and noth ing was left but to fall back on the grace of the Lord Jesus Lhrist. He left the hall with the assurance that hence forth Jesus was his own personal Saviour. Time would fail me to tell of all God has wrought during this month but here are a few instances. First, there was a distressed,' broken-hearted, business woman, , groaning and wringing her hands in agony, crushed with the weight of sin, and having no rest nor peace. She was given the Word of God which when believed is always followed by peace with God. Following this, a young Jewish lad was given help. He had betrayed a trust, running away like Jonah down to Nineveh, but was brought back by God’s Spirit to confess and forsake sin and hear anew of Him who forgives seventy
