Fascinating take on flora and fauna
nyl, not far from a recycled piece of con- struction material. Those are just some of the fascinating works in Erica Taylor’s “Plants and Animals” multi-media art exhibition at the Arbor Gal- lery in Vankleek Hill. Cattle, poultry, fungus and jungles are among the other subjects featured in the
show which continues until April 27. Found objects appeal to theWilliamstown resident. “Some pieces of junk aren’t ready to be junk,”she says.“There’s often still some beauty there, or a message - something poi- gnant, like they still have something to say.” Taylor adds,“I love crafting art out of unex- pected materials, combining things, and
using skills and materials from other trades.” A sign painter and graphic designer, Tay- lor has created “vinyl paintings” of horses using signmakers’ remnants and plexiglass. A sprouting sculpture was made from a concrete cast-off found in a construction site dumpster. Another work is based on a discarded circuit board.
