THE KING’S BUSINESS

toward shore. The waves grew higher and higher, and the boat rocked. Though they worked hard, they could not keep the water from coming into it. Then they were afraid. What! With the Lord Jesus there? They hadn’t learned to know Him as well as we have. They were so afraid that they woke Him and cried, “ Master, do you not care if we drown?” He rose, stood up in the rocking boat, and said, “ Peace—be still.” The winds and the waves knew that voice. It was the one they loved to obey, for it was

God’s. This was His son, Jesus. The winds stopped blowing arid there was a great calm. Then He said to His friends, “Why áre you afraid? Why do you not remember I am with you, caring for you?”. Then they said to each other, “What kind o f a man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” W e know what they afterward believed, it was Jesus, God’s son, who is with and helps all who love Him. Prayer .—That in time o f fear, we may remember the Sop o f God is with us.

o f the ruler o f the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and Wailed greatly. 39 . And when he was come in, he saitlf unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. 40 . And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother o f the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. 4 1 .
