Summary of the Week: Students will learn about the actions of the new American government during the American Revolution and the challenges that the Congressional leaders had to overcome. Standards: N/A Teacher Background Knowledge: The American Revolution succeeded because of the people who dedicated themselves to the Patriot cause. If the people had not been supportive, the 56 men in Philadelphia who signed the Declaration of Independence could have done little on their own. The people are again connected through time and space. We learn more about Washington, Franklin, and Hutchinson and how the date of July 4 once again connects them in major events of U.S. history. Notes for Teacher: ● The sequence of articles in this week is designed to build and support the learning of concepts for students. ● Students will use a variety of sources and education tools to complete the activities included in this week’s lesson plans. The lesson plans can be further differentiated to further scaffold the information or provide enrichment opportunities for students. ● Weeks 23, 24, and 25 each focus on a different aspect of the American Revolution, but are closely linked to one another. Essential Question: What were the goals of the revolutionary government?
