Fort Worth Junior Police Hero Congratulations to the newest Junior Police Officer! On March 12, FWPD swore in its newest member, Dakin. Dakin received a police badge and an official proclama- tion from the City of Fort Worth. The day included a tour of police facilities and even an opportunity to pull over his mom and give her a traffic ticket. Welcome to the FWPD!

Read 2 Win Read 2 Win promotes strong literacy in early childhood development. Fort Worth Police personnel serve as vol- unteer reading coaches in the mentoring program. The program extends to 85 FWISD elementary schools and is aimed at 1st grade students.

FWPD Participates in Shattered Dreams Event

On March 10, the Fort Worth Police Department and Fire Department took part in the Shattered Dreams program at Central High School. Shattered Dreams is a program designed to educate teens on the dangers of underage drinking. The program is designed as a real life re- enactment of drunk driving. The program includes Police, Fire, MedStar, and CareFlite personnel executing the exact steps taken during an actual fatal drunk driving accident.
