We cultivate an environment that provides abundant guidance, enabling our employees to become better individuals and helping them achieve their personal and professional goals. Fair labour practices are applied across all departments, exceeding local standards and regulations in line with our commitment as signatories to the UN Global Compact. Shangri-La strongly encourages local community employment to contribute to the overall residents' quality of life. We aim to provide people with disabilities (PWD) opportunities for upward mobility in every local community in which we operate. A target for all hotels to employ PWDs amounting to 2% of permanent headcount was set and in 2012, the group closed at 1.6%, with China hotels alone achieving 1.98%.
