Sustainability – Shangri-La’s Social Responsibility Our Focus Areas

4. Supply Chain – Towards sustainable sourcing

Shangri-La is committed to working with business partners who share the values of corporate citizenship, respect for the environment, human rights and social justice.

Whenever possible, Shangri-La prefers local community- based suppliers and eco-friendly products so as to promote growth and development in the communities in which it operates. In January 2012, Shangri-La announced its 'Sustainable Seafood Policy' including the commitment to cease serving shark fin at all of its operated restaurants as well as accepting new orders for shark fin products in banqueting with immediate effect. The new policy is a continuation of Shangri-La's journey towards environmental support. During the same year, Shangri-La revised its supplier code of conduct to incorporate new criteria that aligns closely with Shangri-La’s core values and our commitment to the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact
