NOKIA TECH DEMO A Raspberry Pi 400 runs the VBO Client app, built on Nokia’s CDN for Live VBO Client SW Lib, with GStreamer as the player. The VBO Client SW Lib is a portable POSIX library, integrating with Android OS, RDK-V, Linux OS devices and leading Smart TV platforms. It carries a live feed from a customer’s headend over a path impaired on purpose: 40% to 50% random packet loss and 250ms round-trip time. Two widely used throughput tests judge the path, the way traditional OTT would. One measures 0.12 to 0.3Mbps. The other cannot finish a measurement at all. By their numbers the connection is unusable for live HD or SD TV streaming. The bandwidth is there; the tools run over TCP, like traditional OTT, where lost packets lead to head-of- line blocking and bitrate adaptation.
The VBO Client runs the same path at roughly 7.5Mbps HD. It plays smoothly, stays time-synchronised with no drift under impairment, and switches channels in under 500ms. Nothing about the connection changed; the architecture did. UDP avoids that blocking but folds past about 10% to 15% loss on its own. The VBO Client pairs RTP/UDP with the RTP Sense state engine and DRL smart streaming, with repair tuned to presentation timing that fixes what matters before it reaches the viewer. The path that fails every test still carries broadcast-grade HD television.

same principle applies across industry sectors. On the of 18th June, Bridge Technologies was proud to join SCTE at the Institution of Civil Engineers in London for The Changing Face of Streaming - a day of insight, debate, and collaboration. Once upon a time, it would have been fair to say that SCTE’s core focus sat a little bit apart from Bridge Technologies’ own ambit of operations, deep in the heart of broadcast monitoring. Their focus on physical infrastructure and the last mile is, on the surface, a different world from production probes and IP monitoring. And yet, they have always been a vital industry organisation for Bridge, one we are proud to be members of. Why? Because, just as in a physical network, the weakest points are the handovers - the demarcations between systems, teams, and technologies. The
