• On October 7, the Montgomery County Mental Health Court held its eighth graduation. Sixteen graduates were celebrated, making it the largest class to date. Since its inception in January 2017, there have been a total of 79 graduates. This ceremony was the court’s first hybrid graduation. Presiding over the ceremony were District Court in Montgomery County judges Aileen Oliver and Marina Sabett. Current graduates and a select number of the program’s alumni were also present in the courtroom. Friends, family, and additional alumni were able to attend via Zoom.

DISTRICT COURT HELP CENTER GRAND OPENING IN ROCKVILLE Members of the Maryland Judiciary joined representatives from Maryland Legal Aid and the Maryland Center for Legal Assistance on December 10 to celebrate the grand opening of the new District Court Help Center in Rockville. While the center officially opened on July 1, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was delayed due to uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. The new District Court Help Center, which is located on the second floor of the District Court in Rockville, has already served more than 1,700 litigants since opening in July.
