My Dear Friends, Students and Colleagues, Our Sages say: “When Adar enters, joy and happiness enter with it.” At Yeshiva University, we take our celebrations of Adar and Purim seriously—from a Rosh Chodesh Adar chagigah to Megillah readings across campus to festive, themed Purim Seudot. Through actualizing our core Torah values, we elevate our lives and access our potential for true joy and happiness —in Adar, and throughout the year. As you will read about in the pages that follow, everything we do at YU centers on these core values and on advancing our community and our world: • Parents, grandparents and students studied together in our Dor L’Dor Yeshiva Learning Program • Young YU diplomats took on the world’s most pressing problems in the National Model United Nations event • Two recent guest speakers at the Straus Center discussed Herzl’s Zionist writings and the intersection of Judaism and journalism • Ferkauf opened the first-ever clinic to address non-verbal learning disorders • We sent a record number of representatives to the OurCrowd Global Summit 2023, the largest business conference in Israel Wishing you much continued success and an Adar filled with joy, meaning and personal growth.

YU Sephardic Programs: On the Rise Highlighting the record increase in Sephardic undergraduate enrollment at YU, more than 40 current and potential Sephardic students in the YU Israel program turned out for a recruitment dinner in Jerusalem, co-sponsored by the YU Israel Office and the YU Sephardic Program; the event encouraged students from the Syrian- Sephardic community to feel that YU is there home away from home. The Sephardic Program welcomed a new Sefer Torah in the Sephardic Beit Midrash, which was welcomed with the singing of sacred Pizmonim. Beginning in spring 2023, Rabbi Joey Soffer, an associate Rabbi at Syrian Congregation Bnei Yitzhak in Brooklyn, began leading a learning group at YU in the Sephardic Beit Midrash. READ MORE
YU Innovation Lab and Shevet Glaubach Center Kicks Off Second Annual Innovation Challenge The Innovation Challenge is a pitch compe- tition featuring 12 YU student teams who will attend a series of workshops, led by successful entrepreneurs and executives. This hands-on coaching helps participants transform their business ideas into pitch- ready concepts and gain vital entrepreneur- ial training. A grand pitch competition will be held on March 20th, with the winning team receiving a $1,000 grant to kick-start their business. READ MORE
From Terrorism to Climate Change, Young Diplomats Take on Y.U. Model U.N. YU hosted the 33rd annual National Model United Nations (YUNMUN) event, which brought together 370 high school delegates from 42 schools from the U.S., Brazil, Can- ada, and Israel. The three-day competition featured simulated U.N. committee debates and provided an opportunity for students to develop their debating skills while gaining insight into the importance of international diplomacy. YU Opens Advanced Cyber Center to Train Students
On March 8, YU’s Katz School of Science and Health opened the Security Operations Center to provide hands-on cyber-security training to students. The first of its kind in New York City, the center provides advanced simulations so students can gain real-world experience in countering multiple attack vectors, managing a virtual enterprise network and working with commercial grade security tools. YU to Open Country’s First Specialty Clinic Focusing on Non-Verbal Learning Disorder (NVLD) The Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology is leading the way in opening the first clinic of its kind in the U.S. for assessment and

Dr. English, Health and Human Services (HHS) Director for the Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, toured YU’s Bronx campus, which features the Max and Celia Parnes Family Psychological and Psychoeducational Services Clinic; Katz School of Science and Health labs; and many other local community health and educational programs. Dr. English said the visit gave her insights into “the critical role of YU’s graduate schools in servicing the communities of greater New York City.” READ MORE

Students Engage with Scholars, Thought Leaders, and Journalists The Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought and The Shevet Glaubach Center for Career Strategy and Professional Development organized a series of fireside chats with several Jewish thought leaders and journalists. READ MORE Yeshiva University Boasts Strong Representation at OurCrowd Global Summit Yeshiva University had a strong representation at the OurCrowd Global Summit 2023, the largest business conference in Israel. In addition to hosting a booth at the non-profit pavilion, the summit featured YU alumni who were among prospective investors, and 30 students from the S. Daniel Abraham Program who had the chance to learn about venture capital and network with industry leaders. Dean Noam Wasserman also shared his entrepreneurial expertise with early-stage founders and led a Founder’s Bootcamp. READ MORE

YU Signs MOU with Yad Vashem YU’s Emil A. and Jenny Fish Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yad Vashem—the World Holocaust Remembrance Center—and recently gained New York State approval for an advanced certificate program to train U.S. teachers in educating about the Holocaust. These initiatives are essential given the increase in Holocaust denial and antisemitic incidents. READ MORE
Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman Discusses His New Book as Part of the Annual Seforim Sale On Feb. 7, following the opening of the Seforim Sale, Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, President of Yeshiva University, held a book launch for The Final Exam: Letters to Our Students . Dr. Erica Brown, Vice Provost and Director of the Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks-Herenstein Center for Values and Leadership, interviewed President Berman about his writing process and the importance of the core Torah values discussed in the book. Dor L’Dor Yeshiva Learning Program Draws Close to 200 Parents to YU Batei Midrash Undergraduate Torah Studies (UTS) hosted the Dor L’Dor Yeshiva Learning Program on Presidents Day, which provided parents with the opportunity to join their child’s morning seder and shiurim in all four UTS programs. Close to 200 parents and grand- parents, from various locations in the US, Canada, and Europe came to YU’s uptown campus for a day of learning and inspiration. READ MORE
Syms Celebrates its 36th Anniversary The Sy Syms School of
Business is celebrating its “Double Chai” anniversary with a yearlong celebration highlighting the “Best of
Syms” with monthly themed events. The celebration kickoff occurred in January in Israel, with a gathering of Sy Syms alumni by the School’s dean, Dr. Noam Wasserman. The School’s Jewish Values Curriculum was featured in February and March’s theme is Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The rest of the year’s monthly themes are: the School’s Honors Program (April), Star Students and Alumni (May), Torah U’Business (September), Finance and Real Estate (October), Israel Initiatives (November), and the Sy Syms Annual Shabbaton planned for December. Purim Celebrations on the Beren Campus
Beren students celebrated the joyous month of Adar with an incredible chagigah filled with music and dance. The event was hosted by the Torah Activities Council (TAC) at Stern College for Women, the Stern College for Women Stu- dent Council (SCWSC) and the Sy Syms School of Business. The cele- bration was one of many Purim-related campus events scheduled around the holiday of Purim. READ MORE
