Hundreds remember at events in Russell, Embrun and the area

Hundreds of people showed up throughout the entire day at different Remembrance Day ceremonies to pay their respects. On the morning of Saturday, Novem- ber 11, Russell held its annual parade and Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Russell Legion Branch 372. Hundreds of people participated in the march or gathered around outside for the official ceremony. Dignitaries such as MPP Grant Crack and Russell Township mayor Pierre Leroux were present for the ceremony, along with themany veterans, their families and community members. This ceremony was also held in collabo- ration by the Knights of Columbus Assembly 2847, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 372 and Russell Township. After the traditional prayer readings, national anthem, the Canadian Hymn and a minute of silence, the presentation for the laying of the wreaths was done.
