Main Duties and Responsibilities The post holder is responsible for:
• Working closely with the Director of Estates and Facilities to provide a comprehensive, customer- focused estates service strategy and implementation plan to support the achievement of the University's strategic and operational objectives of each organisation. • The post holder ensures that all concerned in the strategic planning appreciate the implications of their proposals and that the estates strategies are fully integrated and support the University’s corporate plans.
• Taking responsibility in ensuring that all estates operational policies and procedures are fully compliant with legislation. Act as lead for all statutory requirements on all plant and equipment.
• Take responsibility in procuring the estates operational capital projects from procurement to delivery. This process will include preparing of tenders, options and recommendations to meet the high expectations of the organisation. • Taking overall responsibility for the management of capital works and maintenance of the University estate including all buildings. To ensure that there are effective key performance indicators and service level agreements in place to enable measurement and monitoring of service provision.
• The delivery the estates ‘Hard Service Maintenance Contract’. Ensure asset register and condition survey of the estate is current.
• Build open, trusted and supportive relationships with all stakeholders, to ensure that the University estate is used and managed efficiently.
• Developing performance standards to facilitate the delivery of high quality services.
• Identifying opportunities for joint working and the reduction of duplication between the two estates and facilities departments including developing opportunities to realise savings by sharing resources
• Leading the estates and facilities departments in a way that ensures joint working, the best use of resources and that engages the teams and ensures that there is a motivated and effective workforce in place. • Taking overall responsibility for the management of external consultants and contractors working throughout the University estate including all buildings. To ensure that there are effective key performance indicators and service level agreements in place to enable measurement and monitoring of service provision.
