Empowering Small Practices to Deliver the Best Care

IT

WE DELIVER PHENOMENAL SO THAT OUR CLIENTS CAN TOO

Our very first core value at AZCOMP is to “deliver phenomenal.” We put our values in order for a reason, and this one’s at the top because it’s the absolute crux of what we do. It helps our culture thrive, makes our clients happy, and, in turn, allows them to make their own clients happy. Technology is the backbone of most businesses these days. If your tech isn’t working, it’s going to cause all kinds of problems, no matter what field you’re in. For AZCOMP, this tech is most often related to the medical field, so in many ways, it’s even more vital that it’s working correctly because it directly affects the well-being of the patients who are counting on it. That’s why we’re so adamant about making sure we provide absolutely phenomenal service every time. Just a few weeks ago, we met with a prospective client in their medical offices. They wanted to switch IT companies because rather than their current company taking care of their IT issues for them, they would instead just tell their client how they could fix the issues themselves. This left us scratching our heads. You don’t see doctors telling their patients how to perform their own surgery. Doctors spend years getting an education and years treating patients so they can directly implement care and treatment because their patients are not equipped to provide their own care. It should be the same with any IT company; we’re trained to do our job, and we should be expected to do it. This client saw the value in having a technology partner who takes what it does seriously and makes sure it’s using that knowledge to give its clients the service that they can’t provide for themselves. In contrast, we had another meeting with a prospective client who was a bit more reluctant to let us do what we do best. This medical professional was handling all of his own IT, from system setup to troubleshooting. The problem is he wasn’t trained in IT practices, so he couldn’t provide himself and his staff the tools and support they

needed to run an efficient business. We did an assessment and found that his system likely hadn’t been working properly for years. During that time, he had created an environment of frustrated employees, which in turn, led to disappointed patients who weren’t getting the care or services they needed. This is why delivering phenomenal is so important at AZCOMP. We strive every day to make sure our clients are using the best technology possible because that allows them to deliver phenomenal to their own clients. We’re experts at what we do so our clients can be experts at what they do. But it doesn’t stop there. We work hard every day to make sure we’re also delivering phenomenal within our own walls to our own team members. That’s because providing great service starts with fostering a culture that allows your team to thrive and also inspires them to help others thrive too. We make sure our own systems are running smoothly so we can do the work we’re trained to do and do it in a way that makes us proud. You’d be amazed at how easily a happy mindset at work translates into providing service that makes your clients happy too.

It takes a lot of practice to figure out how to deliver phenomenal. It doesn’t happen overnight, and sometimes you have to reach out for a little help to really make sure you’re delivering something truly phenomenal. Here at AZCOMP, we work every day to help our clients see the value in reaching out to a technology partner that helps them do their best work. –Byron Adams

SHOW YOUR COMPUTER SOME LOVE

If your car started running slower and slower every month, you’d likely take it to a shop or take a look under the hood to figure out the problem and get it back to its normal speed. Few people know that you can do the same thing with your computer when it starts to slow down. Taking it to a professional for help is a great choice, but you can try some things at home first; in fact, you should be doing these things routinely. Your computer can get bogged down for a variety of reasons, like outdated drivers or too many programs running at the same time. Sometimes all it takes is a few updates and a clean shutdown and restart. But in many cases, the issues run deeper than that. After a while, computers fill up with unnecessary junk, like temporary internet files. They cause essential programs to become sluggish and unresponsive and take up valuable hard drive space. There are many

free system cleaners online that can flush these third-party programs out, but remember to be smart about what you download and use.

If you’ve got a cluttered desktop full of shortcuts and stored files, then cleaning it up is a great way to speed up your computer. Every time you turn your computer on or the desktop refreshes, it has to spend valuable time and energy loading every one of those icons, files, and folders. The more items there are to load, the more overloaded your hardware becomes as it funnels its resources to them. You should also go through your personal files and find anything you don’t want or need anymore. Things like programs you installed but no longer use or old video and photo files that you don’t need readily available can be backed up in cloud storage or to an external hard drive. This frees up space for things that help your computer run quickly and efficiently. NEED NETWORKING OR COMPUTER HELP?

SPOTLIGHT ON LYNDA TARSITANO OF MAIAN PEDIATRICS

Maian Pediatrics is a medical office that treats infants, children, teens, and expecting mothers. After the office’s frustrations with using the electronic health record (EHR) systems that their previous provider didn’t accurately implement into their office operations or adequately train them to use, Maian Pediatrics decided enough was enough. Lynda Tarsitano, the office manager, always felt that with their previous EHR system, their patients viewed them negatively because it seemed like they had no idea what they were doing when it came to operations. It would take them far too long to locate files, make appointments, or process credit cards. However, by seeking out the hands-on help that AZCOMP provides, Maian Pediatrics has finally been able to run a much smoother practice. “Moving to the NextGen Office practice management and EHR system with AZCOMP has been one of our best decisions,” Lynda says. “NextGen Office works perfectly for us, and the IT managed services AZCOMP provides have been wonderful. It makes us more efficient, and the doctor is now able to spend a lot more face-to- face time with each patient. We love having AZCOMP’s continued support, and we’re beyond amazed at how they work together as a team to take care of us.”

DEREK GAUNT’S ‘EGO, AUTHORITY, FAILURE’ Using Emotional Intelligence to Succeed as a Leader

Nearly 50% of employees resign in order to get away from a manager whose practices they can’t stand. The ones who feel this way but decide to stay with the company become disengaged. This leads to a poor work ethic and a negative environment, all because the leadership team is unaware of the damage their methods are causing. Derek Gaunt is a 29-year law enforcement veteran who spent the majority of his career on hostage negotiation teams. He has spent over 17 years providing leadership and negotiation training to corporate and government personnel

and has now written “Ego, Authority, Failure” in an effort to continue educating those in leadership positions on his successful tactics. Gaunt has discovered that it takes more than technical skills to be an effective manager. It takes tactical empathy to create a truly productive work environment that employees actually enjoy. Gaunt demonstrates how the fundamentals of hostage negotiation, which is founded on tactical empathy, can be used to understand what it takes to lead. With the 12 simple skills outlined in the book, readers will build their trust-based influence in order to inspire their employees. The book also details eye-opening cautionary tales about inflated egos and the damage they can cause. This is a necessary read for anyone ready to get real about their capability to lead a stellar team.

By Anthony WE ALL NEED A LITTLE FUN

Not all stories of great triumph emerge from amazing feats of bravery. Sometimes, the most important moments in our lives unfold when we decide to have a little fun and see what happens. Washington Nationals outfielder Gerardo Parra was feeling the same low morale that all his teammates felt when suffering a 0-23 game slump in June 2019. No tactic they tried seemed to spur a win, not even ritual. Each batter had a selected walkout song to pump them up on their way to the plate, but it’s like the tunes were tuned out. Fans in the stands felt the same way. So Parra decided to interrupt the tough times with a moment of fun. He chose the viral toddler tune “Baby Shark” as his at-bat song one game. He had no idea it would become the anthem to the greatest playoff run in MLB history. The catchy song finally roused spectators, brought them to their feet, and

got them cheering for their team. Every time Parra came to bat, the crowd was ready to sing. That energy kept spirits alive and gave the Nationals the boost they needed to win. The inspirational spark kick-started a run for the playoffs, and ultimately, they won the franchise’s first ever World Series title. Like Gerardo Parra, at AZCOMP, “We work hard; we play hard.” We put a lot of serious care and effort into what we do because we strive to provide the best services. But we also know that if we take ourselves too seriously, it can have the opposite effect. Making sure we play hard after we’ve worked hard gives us the boosted morale we need to turn around and do even better the next time. If you can find the fun in things, that means you can find joy in them too. And whether you’re a technology business or a professional baseball player, finding joy in what you do makes you great at what you do.
