Le 14 janvier dernier avait lieu la première réunion du conseil d’admi- nistration de la toute nouvelle Caisse Desjardins Ontario, qui regroupe depuis le 1er janvier l’ensemble des caisses populaires ontariennes. «Nous travaillerons à faire de la nouvelle entité une caisse à la fois agile et efficace, et connectée sur ses membres et leurs réalités locales, grâce, entre autres, à la mise en place de différents comités de liaison sur son territoire», a lancé Stéphane Trottier, le nouveau président du conseil d’admi- nistration de la Caisse. Le conseil de la nouvelle Caisse Desjardins est composé de 17 membres élus et de deux observateurs . Avec un volume d’affaires de plus de 15 G$ et un actif de plus de 7,3 G$, la Caisse Desjardins Ontario et ses 650 employés servent plus de 130 000 membres dans 48 centres de services, un centre Desjardins Entreprises et un Service Signature. Il n’y aura plus de caisses individuelles, mais cela ne voudra pas dire que les membres éprouveront quelque inconvé- nient que ce soit quant au service et à leur expérience, puisque ceux-ci conserveront le même numéro de compte et de transit. Il en va de même pour leurs cartes de guichet et de crédit, chèques, dépôts directs et paiements. Plans continue to move along to expand support services for business tenants at Russell Township’s commercial and industrial parks. Township administration presented council with a report outlining both plans and a timeline schedule for expanding utility services to the municipality’s industrial busi- ness parks. The goal is to have construction begin on utility service expansion begin in 2021 during the summer season. Council directed staff to prepare a request for proposals (RFP) for bids from consultant firms on designs and prices for the needed service expansion. Staff will present a report on the RFP result at a later council session along with recommenda- tions on which firm may be best suited for the assignment. Township staff are working on an up- dated business for expanding municipal water and sewer services to both the 417 Industrial Park and also to the section of the Village of Limoges which is located within Russell Township’s boundary. The business plan will include an analysis of both areas to indicate which would offer “the best return on investment” with expan- sion of municipal utilities for commercial and industrial growth. The 2020 municipal already has money allocated for this study. Prescott-Russell business owners are invited to test the speed of their Internet connection. The United Counties of Prescott- Russell (UCPR) wants to find out the state of local Internet service for businesses in the region. The Internet connection speed survey is part of an overall project, in partnership with the Eastern Ontario Regional Network, to find ways to improve local connectivity for businesses in the area. Participants are asked to test the speed of their Internet connection at three separate time periods that day: between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., between 4 and 7 p.m., and between 7 and 11 p.m. Those taking part in the test through the UCPR website need to click on the “Business” tab to go on to the test site. All participants must provide a valid email for possible follow-ups on test results. Participants must also provide the postal code for their business and a street address to help pinpoint its loca- tion for the test, and also provide the name of their Internet service provider and the download and upload speeds that provider promises for the business connection.
