intensive business growth; and (3) An established programme providing access to the talent and expertise of Keele University via a large scale student and graduate consultancy programme. The role holder will take overall responsibility for the SIH and oversight responsibility of all 3 programmes (in collaboration with those leading the established components). As an initial priority, the role holder will develop and deliver a major new programme of business creation, business incubation and growth. This will include the development and delivery of a strategy to deliver a vibrant SME community within new dedicated business incubation and grow-on facilities, within Innovation Centre 6, which forms part of the SIH development. In the longer term, the role will take a lead responsibility in ensuring the SIH can increasingly underpin the future strategy of the wider science and innovation park. This post is part-funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the England 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) Growth Programme.

Role Summary: Housed in a new landmark building at the entrance to the Keele University Science and Innovation Park, the Smart Innovation Hub (SIH) brings together new forms of incubation space, unique shared spaces for innovation and research and development, and the world-leading expertise of Keele Management School. The role holder will take overall responsibility for the Smart Innovation Hub and work in collaboration with the Keele Management School, Keele Institute for Innovation in Teaching & Education, and as part of the Directorate, to deliver engagement with over 300 businesses, via one or more of the following business engagement programmes: (1) An innovation-intensive and business creation, incubation and growth programme; (2) An established programme building regional business owner/ managers/entrepreneurs capabilities to lead more innovation-

Main Duties and Responsibilities: ● Establish, lead and develop the concept of the Smart Innovation Hub as outlined in its business plan. ● Promote a strong vision and clear direction for the Hub in the local area, establishing the Hub as a lead facility in its field in the regional, national and international landscape. ● Oversee the delivery and development of existing programmes in furtherance of their delivery of the objectives of the SIH. ● Lead the development and delivery of a new and ambitious programme of support to entrepreneurs and early stage businesses, to create, incubate and growth new innovation-intensive businesses. ● Develop and deliver a marketing and sales/letting strategy for Innovation Centre 6 – a dedicated facility to support the creation and growth of new ventures. ● Develop and deliver, in collaboration with the University’s Heads of Partnership Development a vibrant business engagement pro- gramme from the SIH, to underpin the further emergence of Keele University and its Science Park as a leading business innovation hub in the Midlands. ● Provide effective leadership and support to all staff involved in delivering the Hub’s programmes, including direct reports and others contributing to the programme. ● Manage our external relationships and investors in relation to SIH, including our local authority partners. ● Act as an effective ambassador for the Hub, and the University, in the external environment, building strong links with external partners and leading on collaborations with business and industry to create research and development programmes. ● Establish the operational governance arrangements for the Hub, chair the operational group(s) for SIH and lead the management of and reporting to the University’s Project Executive Group (established by University Executive Committee to oversee the project). ● Ensure the Hub makes a strong contribution to the delivery of University strategic objectives. ● To work as part of a wider institutional strategic leadership group overseeing the wider external engagement of the institution. ● Management (with the support of the SIH Project Manager) the delivery of the contractual requirements of the range of investors in the SIH.
