Nostalgia Garage or the popular commercial vendors, including Women’s World organized by Cynthia Powell. Ed and Michelle Chopin pre- sented Games while Charlie Bryson oversaw the Coloring Contest. Kay Staggs hosted a Ladies Tea with a ‘50s/60s theme and Sanderson Headers sponsored goodies for 90 ladies in attendance. Kay also hung 15 quilts with Lou Giles winning “Favorite” and Cindy Zackery “Favorite Automotive.” Southeast Chief Inspector Rusty Holcomb pulled together 11 teams to work the busy two days. Together they completed 72 inspections with 50 passing and 43 receiving a Safety 23 sticker. There were 38 pre-‘49 and 34 post-’48 vehicles inspected. In addition, the MHRA Rod Repair Shop made the trek to Johnson City to offer friendly help should any rodders need it and the Southern Brushslingers were on hand and with their artistic abilities raised nearly $5,000 for the Jericho Shriners. After a performance by the “Gunslinger Band” Saturday afternoon it quickly became time to announce award winners. Those in atten- dance seemed happy to have Sunday to cruise home, especially the three lucky participants who stuffed $2,000 into their pockets after the $weep$take$ drawings and learning the South will be back May 7-8, 2027, which sounded good to everyone.
