General Overview

The RTT Finishing Solutions Filter Monitor Pro is designed to give operators and managers visual indication when filter maintenance is required. It includes 3 user adjustable set points for each sensor (filter stage) being monitoring. The pressure readings are gathered by an external pressure transmitter (sensor) that is installed near the filters. The pressure transmitter uses poly tubing to connect to pressure ports mounted in the wall of the filter chamber. When the fan is turned on, a pressure differential is created from the front side of the filter to the back side of the filter. As the filter loads with overspray, the pressure differential increases. The transmitter converts the pressure differential into a zero to ten volt DC signal that is sent back to the Filter Monitor Pro which is then converted into a numerical value and displayed on the touch screen.

The pressure that the sensor is designed to read is measured in Inches of Water Column shown as “w.c.. This is a very low pressure range as there are approximately 28 inches of water column in one P.S.I. which means the sensor is reading well below 1 P.S.I.

When the pressure across the filter increases, the value and gauge displayed on the touch screen increase. When the pressure exceeds the “Warning” set point, the screen and the stack light at the top of the controller will turn yellow alerting the operator that the filters will need to be replaced soon. The operator must acknowledge this warning in order to clear the screen. The acknowledgement is recorded in the Operation History Section. When the pressure exceeds the “Replacement Required” set point, the screen and the stack light at the top of the controller will turn red alerting the operator that the filters are in need of replacement. This page also requires the operator to acknowledge the notification and is recorded in the Operation History Section. If the filters are not replaced, and the pressure continues to rise, a final “Shutdown” warning will occur which will de-energize the included dry contact interlock. The interlock can be used to turn off spray equipment, turn on alarm sirens, shut down conveyors, or many other functions that may be required per application.

The Filter Monitor Pro includes a built in ethernet port that can be connected to an active internet connection allowing email and text notifications to be sent when the “Replace Soon” and “Replacement Required” alerts are triggered.

Tab Based Navigation The tabs located at the top of the screen allow for easy navigation between menus. The tabs remain visible during basic navigation so that its easy to get back to the “Home Screen” if the user gets lost.

This tab displays the name, current pressure, and pressure set points for each sensor connected to the filter monitor controller.

Operation History Page

This page is where the user can view live events that have occurred on the same day. Select the historical button to view events that have occurred in the past.

Pressure Chart Page This page is where the user can view actual pressure readings and set points for each sensor. This allows the user to verify that pressure set points were not changed during normal operation. It also allows the user to determine how long the filters lasted before needing to be replaced. The data can be exported via USB drive to be imported into Excel as CSV file.

Pressure Graph Page This page is where the user can view pressure readings stored in the touch screen in a graphical view. The data on this graph is automatically compiled from the data stored in the Pressure Chart screen.

Settings Tab

This tab is where various system timers and settings can be adjusted. The settings are passcode protected to help prevent unauthorized setting changes.

1. User Level Selection – Dropdown menu so that the operator can select which user is logging in. 2. Enter Passcode – Select this box and a pop-up keypad will allow the operator to enter the passcode for the selected user. 3. Login – Select the login button to confirm login passcode. 4. Next – After the successfully logging in, this button will appear and allow the operator to begin adjusting settings.

Filter Pressure Set Points

This page is where the user can enter the desired pressure set points for the warning, replace, and shutdown values.

1. Sensor Name – Select this box to name the sensor. 2. Current Pressure – Displays the value being received from the sensor. 3. Warn Set Point – Enter the desired set point at which the monitor will warn the operator that a filter change is required soon. The yellow light will illuminate when the pressure exceeds this value. Use the spec sheet provided with your filters to determine the proper settings. 4. Replace Set Point – Enter the desired set point at which the monitor will warn the operator that a filter change is required. The red light will illuminate when the pressure exceeds this value. Use the spec sheet provided with your filters to determine the proper settings. 5. Shutdown Set Point – Enter the desired set point at which the monitor will turn off the optional interlock connected to external equipment. The interlock will be turned off when the pressure exceeds this value. The interlock can be used to turn off application equipment or trigger other alarms within the facility. 6. Notification Groups – Select a desired group to be notified via email (active internet connection required) when the pressure exceeds the set point values. Common settings would be: 1. Change Passcodes This page allows the admin to change passcodes for manager, maintenance, and admin levels of login credentials. Note – RTT Engineered Solutions will not have access to new passcodes – if passcodes are forgotten, an RTT technician will need to assist with resetting the passcodes.

Email Contacts Editor

This page allows the user to enter contact information for various notifications that are enabled from the pressure set points page.

Delay Timers This page allows the user to adjust the amount of time before the system automatically resets. This is used to reduce repeat notifications as the sensor pressure approaches the set point values. Increase the time if you are experiencing too many repeat notifications.

1. Warning Reset Time – This timer is used to automatically reset the notifications if the sensor pressure falls below the warning set point for more than the adjustable time entered. Extending this time will reduce repeat notifications. 2. Replace Reset Time – This timer is used to automatically reset the notifications if the sensor pressure falls below the replace set point for more than the adjustable time entered. Extending this time will reduce repeat notifications.

Date/Time & System Settings This page allows the user to adjust the time/date stored within the touchscreen. This menu will also allow the user to input network settings if required. By default the touchscreen is configured to automatically receive network settings from the end user’s DHCP server.

1. Date/Time – Select to input the new date and time settings. 2. Network Settings – Select to view/change network settings such as DHCP, IP Address, Subnet mask, Gateway, and DNS. These settings can be adjusted as needed by the end users Network Administrator. 3. Ethernet 2/Enable Bridge – DO NOT ADJUST THESE SETTINGS WITHOUT RTT APPROVAL. The ethernet 2 port is used to communicate with the PLC and other devices within the control panel. Adjusting these settings will cause communication failures.
