VANKLEEK HILL CURLING CLUB MAKES HEARTFELT DONATION

All $8,450 came from charitable donations made by residents, with no need for the events the club usually puts on. Laing said that the foundation has changed tacks during the pandemic, and the curling club’s donation was needed more than ever because of it. The foundation could expect around 100 fundraising events run by various organizations during a normal February, but with the pandemic shutting everything down, none of those events are running. Perseverance like that shown by the curling club is needed if the Heart Institute is going to continue operating at the level they are now. “You have to have a heart to live and a heart to give,” the curling club stated in a Facebook post. “Your support over the past six years has been greatly appreciated. We hope to host this heartwarming event in 2023.”
The Vankleek Hill Curling Club donated $8,450 to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation last month. Although public health measures have prevented the Vankleek Hill Curling Club from holding fundraising events, they still managed to raise almost $9000 for Ot- tawa’s Heart Institute Foundation during Heart Month in February. Club members Pitt Paquette and Bruce McNaughton presented the cheque to the foundation’s Executive Director Lianne Laing on February 28, and this latest donation puts the total amount donated by the club over $100,000. Seeing as fundraising events weren’t al- lowed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the money came from a donation drop box at the club’s building on Bond Street.

Ceux qui ont pris part au programme virtuel ont contribué à ajouter de l’argent à leur agence locale. Les employés d’OLG ont également recueilli près de 70 000 $ grâce à leur propre collecte de fonds pour Centraide 2021. OLG a annoncé avoir recueilli plus de 120 000 $ pour les groupes de Centraide en Ontario grâce à sa propre contribution aux revenus de la loterie, à l’argent recueilli par les employés d’OLG et aux bénéfices locaux du programme Collecting for the Community. Les fonds sont maintenant répartis entre 27 organismes de Centraide en Ontario. United Way/Centraide Stormont-Dundas- Glengarry recevra 1 220,83 $ et United Way East Ontario recevra 2 875,18 $.

Plus de 100 000 $ de l’argent de la loterie provinciale sont versés à des organismes de Centraide de l’Ontario. La Société des loteries et des jeux de l’Ontario (OLG) annonce que l’organisme provincial et ses employés versent plus de 120 000 $ pour soutenir les organismes Centraide de la province. En juillet 2021, l’OLG a mis en place «Col- lecting for the Community», une promotion virtuelle qui comprenait un engagement de 50 000 $ de fonds de loterie à distribuer entre les organismes de Centraide en Onta- rio. Du 19 juillet 2021 au 3 janvier 2022, toute personne âgée de 18 ans et plus qui se rendait sur le site Web Collectingforthe- Community.ca pouvait y jouer gratuitement
