Working within the Engineering, Energy and Environment Team, the Engineering Technical Assistant will assist the Team in carrying out its roles and responsibilities. The Engineering, Energy and Environment Team is formed of mechanical, electrical, public health, controls, energy and fire/security engineers and has a core role to develop and monitor the engineering strategies and standards for College infrastructure and construction projects. We are looking for an individual with demonstrable formative experience in the building services industry with a very high level of enthusiasm and commitment to develop a career in engineering. You will have proven organisational skills, good IT skills and a strong desire to support colleagues across a broad range of activities. It is expected that prospective candidates will have gained or be working towards obtaining a recognised qualification in building services engineering. This role represents an exciting development opportunity for an individual to further their career in a professional building services engineering environment across a large scale and diverse portfolio.

Engineering Technical Assistant Department/Division/Faculty: Engineering, Energy and Environment Team, Estates Operations Campus location: South Kensington Job Family/Level: Professional Services Level 2 Responsible to: Head of Engineering, Energy and Environment Key Working Relationships (internal): Estates Project Delivery, Estates Maintenance, Estates Building Operations, Imperial College Departmental Stakeholders Purpose of the Post To assist the Engineering Team in carrying out its roles and responsibilities. Have involvement with the full range of engineering services installations including: • mechanical • electrical • public health • fire The Engineering Team is formed of mechanical, electrical, controls, energy, fire/security engineers and a clerk of works. The Engineering Team has a core role to develop and monitor the engineering strategies and standards for College infrastructure and construction projects. Key Responsibilities 1. Assist the Head of Engineering, Energy and Environment with operational management of the Engineering Team. 2. Maintain Engineering Team databases in order to assist in the co-ordination of the Engineering Team activities. 3. Maintain Engineering Team databases in order to track documentation that is received. 4. Coordinate and collate project design reviews, ensuring that the documents are distributed to the relevant team members. Ensure that when reviews are sent to team members they are aware of timescales required of them, therefore understanding and prioritising workloads. 5. Support the project management of minor engineering projects. 6. Assist the Engineering Team members as and where required in order for them to carry out their roles and responsibilities with regard to their relevant M&E services discipline. 7. Assist the Engineering Team members in producing documents/presentations/reports and other material as and when required. This material could be used internally and equally for external consultants etc. 8. To assist in the development and management of technical standards. 9. To assist in the development and management of infrastructure strategies. 10. Attend meetings where required in relation to Projects as necessary to perform the duties as set out in this document. 11. Liaise with Project Managers where required in order to understand team member workloads when organising and/or arranging meetings where Engineering Team members are required to attend, whilst prioritising workloads. 12. Assist Project Managers in the compilation of Engineering Team member’s comments onto the TAG/ERM Tracker document. 13. Be able to direct workflow to the relevant Engineering Team members when required and assist with collating relevant information and responding to requestors. 14. Be responsible for managing the Engineering Teams Instrumentation tools and PPE. 15. Responsible for your own self development and for identifying and encouraging the continuous development of supporting staff.
