Are you prepared for hurricane season? The Atlantic Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Hurricanes, like all major storms, have to potential to cause power outages, property damage, and dangerous travel. Orange - Madison 4 - H Camp was held June 4 - 8 at the 4 - H Center in Front Royal for nearly 180 participants. Class activities included building LEGO baskets to sail down a zip line, pitching a tent and sleeping outdoors, and hitting the bullseye in archery. Campers demonstrated various poses in yoga class, hiked the Appalachian Trail in Outdoor Living Skills, and safely guided canoes through the camp lake. Daily swimming and recreation were offered. Nighttime programs included a talent show, dance, boxcar races, and pool party. Thanks to Kaci Daniel, Extension Agent and 4 - H Youth Development Unit Coordinator, for the wonderful photos! More information is available at the Orange Madison 4 - H Camp website. How can YOU prepare?

Campers relax on the mountainside while waiting for the nightly campfire circle.

In yoga class, campers taught each other various poses.

Youth on the High Ropes course tackled a climbing wall, zip line, and leap of faith, where one climbs to the top of a telephone pole and leaps, securely harnessed, of course.
