Dear Joseph, I’d be interested to know your thoughts on the Trump administration to date. Frankly, I can’t quite understand what all the outrage is about. We continue to witness flawed, emotional outbursts – from Trump’s detractors. ‘He’s a racist’, ‘He hates foreigners’: these are claims to which we have grown accustomed. But they simply cannot be supported by any real evidence. Trump’s election victory over quite simply the worst presidential candidate of all time was not the result of a mass awakening of bigotry, or xenophobia, but instead a reawakening of a sense of American pride. His promises of border security, a restoration of economic power and preservation of American values should – and did – strike a chord with all patriotic American citizens, whatever their ethnic or cultural background. Like many others, I take grave exception to some of the things he has said and done – particularly before his run for the presidency. But we must acknowledge that his refusal ...
