Jian Han, MD, PhD

“Our immune system knows best when it comes to diagnosing and treating a disease. It’s more sensitive than any test we could invent.” — Jian Han, MD, PhD hudsonalpha.org/faculty/jian-han Research Focus: Jian Han, MD, PhD, is a faculty investigator at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. His research focuses on developing integrated solutions for molecular differential diagnosis and mapping the personalized immunorepertoire. Jian is also founder and Chairman of the board of iRepertoire and president and chief scientific officer of iCubate.

Alex Harkess, PhD

Research Focus: Alex Harkess, PhD, holds a joint position as faculty investigator at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and assistant professor in the Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Science at Auburn University. His research focuses on plant reproductive, evolutionary and comparative genomics. More specifically, Harkess aims to understand how some plants have evolved unique ways to reproduce through plant reproductive, evolutionary and comparative genomics. “We’re a basic biology lab and we study the ways across the tree of life that plants have evolved to reproduce differently. And once you do that, once you map out all of the ways a plant can differently reproduce sexually or asexually, then you can start to engineer those kinds of changes into crop plants." — Alex Harkess, PhD
