NO NEW YEARS CHEER FOR THE VANKLEEK HILL COUGARS

Sunday night at the St-Isidore Arena, Fran- cis Laviolette fired in two points on the Royals for the home team with teammates Jeremy Arbour, Philippe Burden, Patrick Charlebois, Kevin Howson, and Sebastien Roy scoring singles. Assisting on goals were Arbour, Laviolette, Burden, Howson, Zackary Bougie, Jérémie Bourgon, Jakob Brunette, Frédérik Laflèche, and Ryan Wells, with Sebastien Moreau guarding the net. Scoring the lone Bytown goal was Francis Proulx with assists from William Lachapelle and Justin Proulx. Ryan Black and Danik Gervais shared goal-keeping duty. Clarence Creek The Clarence Creek Castors enjoyed a cheerful start to 2019 with a pair of wins over the first weekend of January. The Castors caged the Vankleek Hill Cougars in their own den 7-3 Saturday night at the Vankleek Hill

There was no New Year’s cheer for the Vankleek Hill Cougars at the start of their January schedule of games in the National Capital Junior Hockey League. The Cougars lost their first games of the new year 7-3 to the Clarence Creek Castors and 4-3 to the Gatineau-Hull Volant. Saturday night at the Den at the Vankleek Hill Arena, Tyler Dopelhamer, Jonathan Leb- lanc, and Keean McEachern scored for the Cougars. Assisting on the goals were Nikolas Ayo- tte, Niolas Castonguay, Justin Labrosse, and Danny Plourde-Grenon, with Frederick Durocher in goal. Scoring two goals apiece for the Castors were Samuel Gaudet, Kyle Goodman, and Sam Paquette, with Thomas Lowry popping in a single. Goal assists came from Gaudet, Lowry, Etienne Agius-Pease, Mickey George, Connor Head-Smith, Austin Laprade, and Logan Lefebvre. Corey Camirand guarded the goal. Sunday in Gatineau, Nikolas Ayotte, Nicolas Castonguay and Danny Plourde- Grenon scored for the Cougars. Assisting on the goals were Vincent Huneault, Justin Labrosse, and Trystan Lavoie, with Frederick Durocher in goal. Scoring two points each for the Volant were Denis Gratton and Joel Tremblay. Assist- ing on the goals were Anthony Bélanger, Mar- quis Roy, Mattias Roy, and Jeremy Trudeau, with Marc-Olivier Bastien guarding the net. Next games for the Cougars are Janu- ary 12 at home against the North Dundas Rockets, then Sunday in Ottawa against the West Carleton Inferno. St-Isidore The first weekend for St-Isidore in the January schedule of the National Capital Junior Hockey League became a tradeoff situation with the Bytown Royals. Bytown won the Friday game on its home ice 4-3 but then got hammered 9-1 Sunday at the St-Isidore Arena. Scoring for St-Isidore on Friday night were Jakob Brunette with a pair of goals and Ismael Prudent with a single. Assisting on the scoring were Philippe Burden, Tyler Druce, Kevin Howson, Frédérik Laflèche, and Ryan Wells, with Sebastien Moreau in the net. Punching in a pair of goals each for the Royals were William Lachapelle and Samuel Paquette, with each of them assisting on the other’s goals.
