1. BEFORE APPLYING: What should I know?

1.1. Application Closing Date: Application closing dates vary depending on the course. For the most up-to-date information, please refer to the relevant programme webpage.

Applicants are strongly advised not to wait until close to the application deadline to submit their application and supporting documents.

It can take up to 48 hours for an application to be fully received by the department and if you encounter any issues with submission or uploading documentation, Application Support may not be able to assist in time. This could result in your application being incomplete and withdrawn once the application closing date passes.

Due to the high volume of applications and the limited number of places available, late and incomplete applications submitted on or after the closing date will not be considered.

Once an application is submitted, referees will receive an automated email containing a link to upload their reference. The Postgraduate Admissions Service does not follow up with referees, so it is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that references are provided promptly after an application has been submitted.

- If you are currently studying for a master’s degree, an interim transcript showing the marks and modules completed to date must be provided. Should you receive an offer of study, you will be required to submit the final degree transcript and certificate before the programme start date.

• GMAT/GRE Score – please read the relevant information relating to the course you are applying for: - MRes/PhD Finance and Economics : A GMAT/GRE test score is mandatory and should be provided at time of applying. - MRes/PhD Business and Management: A GMAT/GRE score is not formally required but applicants are encouraged to provide one as it can strengthen an application. Some quantitative-oriented disciplinary groups may request a GMAT or a GRE to support the application and help evaluate candidates. However, no predefined threshold is required, and applications to this programme can be made without a GMAT or GRE.

English Language Test Certificate -

The University of Warwick requires all applicants to evidence that their English language capability is of a level that will enable them to succeed on their chosen course of postgraduate study. Therefore, an English language test certificate should be submitted with your application unless you meet the exemption criteria. 1.2. Is a Research Proposal required? No

Do I need to find a supervisor prior to applying? No Candidates are not selected this way. During the second year of the MRes, students will be allocated a supervisor. A second supervisor will be allocated if you are admitted into the PhD.

Can I apply directly for the PhD programme? No The MRes programme must be completed before proceeding to the PhD stage.

Does it matter which email address I put on my application? Yes

Applicants using email servers/providers 126.com, 163.com, Sina.cn and QQ.com may have difficulty receiving email messages from the Admissions Service. Students should use their university email account or Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail or similar commercial email providers when making an application.

2. AFTER APPLYING: What should I know? 2.1. Once I have submitted my application can I access it? Yes

Once you have applied you will receive 2 automated emails from the admissions system. The first email will be an acknowledgement of the application. The second email will arrive within 48 hours later and ask you to register for an ITS account. This will enable you to access your Applicant Portal and view the status of your application.

Please note: If your application is incomplete it will not be possible for you to upload supporting documentation until you have registered for an ITS account.

If you have difficulties logging in you will need to contact Application Support. The Doctoral Programmes Office or PG Admissions Service cannot reset or resolve application access issues. All queries will be referred to Application Support.

2.2. Will I hear from the Doctoral Programmes Department? Yes.

When the department has received an application and reviewed it, you will receive an acknowledgement email.

If your application is incomplete and further information is required in order to progress the application, details will be provided as well as a deadline date by which you should complete the application.

An application must be fully complete before it can be considered.

2.3. I have forgotten my login details, what should I do?

The Applicant Portal has a ‘forgotten your password’ link which will email you a new password.

Please enter the password manually, as copying and pasting it can sometimes generate an error. If you do not receive the requested new password, this is because it is automatically sent to the email address you used to register an account, and this will have contained an error. If this is the case, please register a new account with a different email address.

3. ONCE THE APPLICATION CLOSING DATE HAS PASSED: What should I know? 3.1. What happens once the closing date has passed:

Applications that meet the programme’s academic entry requirements and include all required supporting documentation submitted on time will be considered.

If you are shortlisted for interview, you will receive an email with details about the next stage of the selection process.

Applications that are incomplete or not selected for interview will be rejected. In such cases, you will receive a notification via email from the Admissions Service through your application portal.

3.2. I have been invited to an interview – what next?

If you are shortlisted for an interview you will receive an email and calendar invitation to the email address registered to your application. The email will confirm

1. The date and time of the interview 2. List interview documentation that will need to be submitted before the interview. If interview documentation is not submitted by the deadline, the interview cannot proceed.

Interview dates and times cannot be rescheduled so please must make every effort to attend the given slot.

3.3. What happens if I am not shortlisted for an interview?

Your application will be updated, and you will receive notification from the Admissions Service.

3.4. If my application is successful and I receive an offer, what do I need to do?

1. Accept the scholarship offer from the Department. 2. Respond to the formal offer issued by the University. 3. Meet conditions of the offer (if given) by the University’s given deadline (conditions will be outlined in the offer letter). - If you have any questions about the conditions of the offer, please contact pgt2@warwick.ac.uk. - Supporting documentation can only be uploaded by yourself via accessing your applicant portal. Documentation cannot be accepted via email. 4. Contact Immigration Service with regard to Visas/CAS. 5. Complete online enrolment activities before the start of the programme.

3.5. When will I receive programme information?

In the summer you will be invited to access the programme’s pre-arrival webpages, which will contain all the information you need to prepare for your new programme at WBS.

3.6. Can an offer be deferred?

It is not possible to defer offers for WBS MRes/PhD programmes. If you are unable to enrol in October 2026 you will need to withdraw your application and apply at the next opportunity.

4. ENROLMENT: What Should I Know?

4.1. Where can I find out about enrolment?

Frequently asked questions relating to Enrolment can be found on the Warwick Enrolment website.

4.2. When can I enrol?

The University Enrolment Team will contact you by email with enrolment instructions approximately 4 – 6 weeks before your course starts.

4.3. I am having difficulty enrolling. What should I do?

The Enrolment Team have provided detailed Frequently Asked Questions. You should check this page first to see if there is a solution to your issue with the enrolment process. If you are not able to resolve your issue from the FAQS, you can contact the enrolment team.

5. Visas, Immigration and Accommodation queries

5.1. As an MRes student, can I bring a spouse or dependents with me?

No. The first two years of the MRes programme is classified as postgraduate taught. Students on a postgraduate taught programme of study cannot bring their spouses on dependant visas.

5.2. Who do I contact with visa/immigration queries?

For information and guidance on Student Visas and all immigration matters please contact the Student Visa Advice Centre.

The Doctoral Programmes Office cannot advise or visa or immigration related matters.

5.4. Who pays my Visa and Immigration Health Surcharge fees?

You will cover these costs initially. Once you have enrolled you can submit a claim and be reimbursed. Please keep associated receipts in order to be reimbursed.

Please note that if you make these payments then withdraw or do not enrol, these costs will not be reimbursed.

5.5. How do I book accommodation?

To register for campus accommodation, you will need an unconditional offer from the University.

Warwick Accommodation service manages the booking of accommodation for students at the University. There is information on the Warwick Accommodation website which discusses the different options available to Postgraduate students, the application process and when to expect a decision.
