• Possessing degree and/or relevant professional qualification or with demonstrable equivalent industry experience gained in the commercial (hospitality, leisure, retail, residential accommodation sector. • Proven experience in Retail, Product Development, Product Distribution or Commercial Partnerships improving turnover and net profit contribution in line with the strategic objectives of an organisation. • Up to date knowledge of international market trends in Retail, Product Development, Product Distribution or Commercial Partnerships • Proven track record of supporting and influencing successfully at a senior executive level in organisations. • Evidence of leading change resulting in improved commercial productivity married with enhanced service delivery. • Significant previous experience of leading a large function in a large complex company or organisation. • Outstanding leadership and management skills, with significant experience of dealing with challenging people and organisational issues. Ability to lead and motivate a large scale team from senior managers through to operational staff. • Experience of providing services to demanding users requiring high standards of service. • Experience of business planning and managing large budgets in achieving incrementally higher margins. • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to network and build contacts across a matrix organisation to influence change and achieve business transformation beyond own areas of responsibility. • Strong leadership and management skills required to create a high performance culture. • Possessing a proactive, entrepreneurial and commercially minded disposition. • Strong customer service ethos and passion for delighting customers •Strong negotiation and brokering skills. • Strong presentation and communication skills. • Excellent organisational skills and well tested project management skills. • Strong numeracy and analytical skills and confidence to work with all appropriate IT tools to deliver efficiency and functionality. • The capacity to think strategically. • An understanding of the complexity and diversity of the University context and an ability to adapt their style and approach accordingly.
