and a man received from the Lord more wives than one under the sealing ordinances, where would be the moral wrong? Herein is our Eternal Father glorified and His dominions extended” (p. 66). One of the most infamous pub lications of the Mormons is Sec tion 132 of the official textbook, Doctrines and, Covenants, Salt Lake City Version. The Reorgan ized Church o f Missouri rejects it but the Utah Mormons consid er it a revelation to Joseph Smith in 1843 in regard to “ the new and everlasting covenant, including the eternity of the marriage cove nant, as also plurality of wives.” It is a gross document. Speaking of those men “ exalted,” he de clared, “ They shall be as gods, be cause they have no end . . . and the angels are subject unto them. Abraham r e c e iv e d concubines, and they bore him children; and it was accounted unto him for righteousness” (v. 37). In this section a special “ revelation” is given to Emma, Smith’s long-suf fering wife, forbidding her to ob ject to his various wives, and the claim that it was impossible for the priesthood to commit adultery even if they had ten wives! Po lygamy still remains a part of the Mormon creed a lth ou gh since 1890 they have been forbidden by law to practice it openly. All of the original 12 apostles of Mor- monism were polygamists. Brig ham Y oun g acknowledged 25 wives and 56 children and Joseph Smith had 48 wives. The so-called persecutions o f the Mormons, as they were driven from states and cities, were due to their wife stealing and other civil disobedi ence. What a contrast is Christ’s teaching regarding holy matri mony in Matthew 19:5-6 and the Apostle Paul’s exhortations in Ephesians 5:22-33, urging hus bands to love their wives as Christ did the church! Mormons need to be confronted with the claims of Him who shed His blood for their redemption. M
