MINERAL PAINTS FOR BRICK
THE PERFECT PAINT FOR BRICK AND MASONRY
MINERAL PAINTS ARE BREATHABLE, EXTREMELY DURABLE AND COLOR-FAST
Have you heard that you should not paint brick? Ever wanted to paint your brick exterior only to be told that painting brick only causes maintenance problems? Imagine if you could paint the exterior of your brick home without worry. Experts have typically not recommended painting brick because trapped water and moisture can cause damage. But, there is an easy solution. Use a breathable, mineral paint that does NOT seal the brick allowing the moisture to release, then you’ll never see peeling or bubbling paint. Keim has created Mineral Paints, specially formulated for brick and masonry. As brick and mortar are made from minerals, so to is Keim—creating a natural affinity and bond. Mineral paints and stains penetrate into brick and mortar and form permanent chemical bonds, but never “seals” the surface. The mineral layer is microporous and allows moisture from within the wall to freely escape into the environment while it keeps wind-driven rain out of your walls.
And mineral paints are the most durable paints around, providing a weather proof barrier to wind and rain, is completely U.V. stable and will never fade or lose color brilliance. Lifespans are measured in decades, not years!

MINERAL PAINTS HAVE A UNIQUE AFFINITY FOR BRICK AND ARE MADE FROM MOSTLY THE SAME INDREDIENTS

ROMANIT ® Natural Lime Paint + Wash Our authentic lime paint and wash provides a classic Old- world, chalky appearance that develops a beautiful patina as it weathers. Lime paints are prized for their unique character and depth of color. As it ages, Romanit will develop a “mottled” multi-toned color reminiscent of ancient Italian villas. It is made from aged Dolomite lime, the highest quality available. While it “calcifies” to the surface, it is considered “reversible” and can be removed in the future or distressed to allow more of the brick to show through. It is easy to apply as a full painted finish, or thinned for a washed appearance.
MINERAL PAINTS FUSE TO BRICK— THEY WILL NEVER PEEL
The unique and permanent chemical bonds developed when mineral paints penetrate and fuse with brick are among the strongest in nature. Ordinary paints lay on the surface only and rely on a mechanical bond from sticky acrylics. Fusion guarantees that mineral paints will never lose adhesion, no matter how harsh the environment. And the mineral finishes become insoluble mineral compounds that are part of the brick surface—so they are completely compatible. The unique mineral crystalline matrix formed at the surface provides a more natural appearance to your painted brick and never changes the “feel” of the brick surface. Finishes are so natural they even darken when wet, just like brick. You will never see an unnatural “sheen” or gloss and even on low-light days, your brick will “glow” with a mineral luminescent quality found in crystals and quartz.
Mineral Silicate Paints are ideal for historic brick and masonry where it is essential that the surface breathe and allow moisture vapor to escape without damaging the paint.
STUNNING NATURAL APPEARANCE Mineral paints provide a very unique appearance, far more natural than ordinary latex house paints. The mineral matrix surface radiates light in all directions and the perfect mineral matte appearance mimics the look and feel of natural brick and masonry. Colors appear more vivid and true and respond to light for a “lively” finish that is beyond compare.
Interior brick and masonry can be equally beautiful when painted with Optil Interior Sol-Silicate Mineral Paint as seen here in 9008 Black. And applying a penetrating mineral paint controls the natural “dusting” process of masonry on interiors.
