Have you been told that you should never paint a brick building? Traditional “wisdom” applies to paints that
are made with latex or acrylic, even though they may be called “masonry” paints. Based on thermo plastic
resin, these paints bond only at the surface of the brick and mortar, forming a thick finish that is mechanically
bonded. This thick acrylic layer can protect brick from wind-driven rain and weather, but often fails prematurely
due to moisture from inside brick escaping to the outside. We have all witnessed blisters and peeling paint
when the paint finish does not naturally “breathe”.

SOLDALIT ® All Surface Sol-Silicate Paint Our very best permanent mineral finish for brick and masonry both bare (not previously painted) and painted brick surfaces. Mineral paints penetrate the brick and form permanent chemical bonds delivering lasting adhesion with no chance of peeling. Ideal for all climates this finish will deliver up to 4 times the lifespan of ordinary paint in 2 coats and is an extremely low maintenance finish. Self- priming, so no primer is ever needed. It provides a beautiful and natural mineral matte finish in any color that never fades and allows your brick walls to “breathe” naturally. GRANITAL ® Mineral Silicate Paint Our economical mineral finish for brick and masonry is ideal for bare (not previously painted) brick surfaces. Suited for moderate climates this finish will deliver up to 3 times the lifespan of ordinary paint in 2 coats. Requires use of Contact Plus Bonding Primer when brick is previously painted. Natural mineral matte appearance and full range of mineral colors is available delivering a very low maintenance and breathable finish. ROMANIT ® Natural Lime Paint + Wash Our authentic lime paint and wash provides a classic Old-world, chalky appearance that develops a beautiful patina as it weathers. Lime paints are prized for their unique character and depth of color. As it ages, Romanit will develop a “mottled” multi -toned color reminiscent of ancient Italian villas. It is made from aged Dolomite lime, the highest quality available. While it “calcifies” to the surface, it is considered “reversible” and can be removed in the future or distressed to allow more of the brick to show through. It is easy to apply as a full painted finish, or thinned for a washed appearance.

U.V. degrades both the acrylic binders in latex and acrylic masonry paints, as well as the tints used to create color. Reading the ingredients list you will see additives that serve to “screen” U.V., much like sun-block screens your skin from damaging sun. These additives to acrylic paint are not permanent and can be destroyed by sunlight in just a few years. How can mineral paints offer a 20 year fade- proof guarantee? Using only naturally occurring mineral oxide pigments assures that Keim colors just do not change, no matter how harsh the exposure. Both the mineral silicate binder and mineral pigments are “inert”, like stone or concrete, and are not degraded by U.V. No additives are necessary to protect Keim paints from the effects of sun.
