The Canadian Cowgirls also host a Kids Rodeo before the main event, where youth and audience members can take part in horse-themed games inside the arena. The stop in Erin is especially exciting, as the Erin Chamber of Commerce is partnering with rodeo organizers to host complimentary events, including a western-themed window decorating contest beginning July 13, as well as a Main Street party on Friday night. “I think country music is on such a rise,” said Ann Shanahan, recalling what a hit last year’s street party was during the rodeo. Guests came out for music and line dancing. “It was such a great event, people didn’t want to go home,” she said. That’s why the Chamber is keeping the fun going all
week long this year. Festivities begin with the Rodeo Week Window Decorating Contest, where downtown shops are invited to dress their windows in classic country décor that captures the spirit of the West. Residents are also encouraged to join in by decorating their front lawns. On Friday night, the Canadian Cowgirls will parade from the Fairgrounds down Main Street in Erin Village for a meet-and-greet at the MSN Auto parking lot, where the Chamber will host its party. Guests can enjoy line dancing, a beverage tent, children’s activities, and a barbecue.
