Dr. Katrina Kulhay, owner and longtime Erin resident, is a nationally recognized chiropractor who opened the Erin clinic 20 years ago. Kulhay ran one of Canada’s largest wellness clinics in Toronto and in 2002, was voted Canada’s Best Chiropractor, by Independent Chiropractic Magazine. She was the alternative wellness doctor on Cityline’s Marilynne Dennis Show for seven years, hosted a radio show on CHUM FM, and ran seminars on wellness nationwide. Then one day Dr. Kulhay broke her hip, and after 38 years, closed her Toronto location and focused on her Erin clinic. “I moved here because I had to heal my hip,” said Kulhay, who grew up in Erin, worked at the iconic Steen’s Dairy and even became Fall Fair Ambassador before pursuing her medical career. “I came back because this is my hometown, I love it.” Many of her Toronto patients still make the trip out to Erin to receive care, inside the little yellow house which offers a wide variety of services and treatments. From traditional chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy and counselling, to physiotherapy, reflexology, naturopathic medicine, the Kulhay clinic more than 20 different services all with one goal in mind—helping people feel better. The clinic also offers several unique tests, including mineral and metal tissue analysis, hormone testing and phase contrast blood analysis, which Dr. Kulhay’s brother and sister-in-law, Shannon provide.

“It’s the oldest blood test known to man,” said Shannon. One drop of blood can tell a whole story under a microscope. Shannon pricks a patient’s finger to extract a small drop of blood, which is then placed on a glass microscope slide. Under the microscope, she can see everything, which is then projected onto a screen for the patient to see. They can see their own blood, alive, under the microscope. The microscope can help show inflammation in the system, nutrient deficiencies, bacteria, parasites, fungal infections, even heavy-metal toxicity and allergies. “This is not a diagnostic tool,” she said, explaining that their goal is not to take the place of traditional blood tests recommended by physicians within the medical system. “Our primary focus is nutritional education.” These tests can help guide the Kulhay clinic in developing nutritional programs to help ease inflammation, increase gut health and relieve irritations. The clinic even has a vitamin shop, where patients can order supplements straight to their homes. The blood tests provide the groundwork for understanding someone’s health, a unique glimpse into what’s going on in their body. “Your blood doesn’t lie,” said Shannon. “You just have to know how to read it.” For more information about Kulhay Wellness Centre & Vitamin Shop, visit www.kulhaywellness.net.
