Stephanie Sheehan Being both an introvert and an ally of the community, feeling comfortable enough to be myself at work, and knowing it’s a place where all employees feel welcome, is actually really important. This will mean different things to different people but for me, it’s walking through the canteen without fear of judgement, speaking up at a meeting, wearing what I feel most comfortable in and knowing that a passing smile in the corridor will always be reciprocated. Proud to be an ally, proud to work in Johnson Controls Cork.
Chryssa Dislis This year, I am aware, more than ever before, that Pride is protest and activism. I am proud to be an ally to the LGBTQ+ community, and acutely aware of the increased hostility specifically directed at trans people. With this in mind, I am happy to work in a truly inclusive organisation that backs the talk with actions, and I pledge to be an even better ally in the future.
Flaminia Curti Pride for me means walk with my head up, not having to shy away from situations or conversations because my sexual orientation do not match what other people think is right. Pride is stepping into the light actually no, it’s dancing into the light to celebrate our lives that are beautiful and worthy no matter who we fall in love with!
Looking forward with Pride! Johnson Controls, Cork, supporting LGBTQ+ people and allies
At Johnson Controls, Cork, Pride Month holds a special place for us as we celebrate, recognize and uphold our company’s commitment to cultivating an inclusive culture for all employees. In our company, we aim to foster an inclusive work environment for all employees, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We recognize that every employee has an absolute right to a life filled with acceptance, peace, joy, love, safety and freedom. As Johnson Controls employees, we try to champion this vision every day and enable those freedoms for all people.
In Johnson Controls, Cork, our colleagues are continuously celebrating our commitment to creating an inclusive environment at One Albert Quay. Thank you to John Duggan, Head of Design, Global Creative, for upgrading our staircase design and flooding the stairway with the beautiful rainbow colours. These colours reflect the diversity of our community in addition to the spectrum of human sexuality and gender. We are proud of our diverse and inclusive culture in Johnson Controls, Cork. Caoimhse McGrath Pride for me has always been a movement centred around self-love and acceptance whilst also being a protest the struggles and hardships the LGBTQIA+ community has faced. It is important for us to celebrate and have fun but to also recognize the work that has been done by the community in the past as well as the work we must continue to do today. Working at Johnson Controls where everyone can be celebrated and respected for who they are means a lot to me and I am delighted to work for a company whose values align with my own. This year, however you celebrate Pride, I hope you know that your voice matters, that you deserve love and to be loved, and that you belong.
