A SUGGESTION TO OUR ADVERTISERS “‘A constant drop of water wears away the hardest stone; The constant gnaw of Rover masticates the toughest bone; The constant wooing lover carries off the blushing maid; And the constant ADVERTISER is the man that gets the trade.”

KOM. 8:28 PROVEN A miner who was a Christian was' often heard to cite Rom. 8:28; when he would meet with difficulties or have some misfortune at his work, and the miners who were worldly men would twit him about this quotation when ever he would get into any difficulty. One day they were gathered at the shaft ready to go down, and the Christian min er had laid his dinner pail down by the side of the building and not paying much attention to it, a big dog came along, picked up the dinner pail and ran off with it. At once the men began their joking about “All things working togeth er for good,"etc. But the man ran after the dog trying to get his dinner pail, and before he returned the first cage had gone down and an accident occurred and every man was killed. That was the cage he would have gone down in But for the dog carrying off his dinner pail. How many calamities we escape by the little misfortunes that God permits to come to us, we will never know in this world. “What I do thou knowest not now, BUT thou shalt know here after.” John 13:7; also, Job 37:21; and 1 Cor. 13:12.—F. A. Conners. COUNTERACTING THE BIBLE Dr. A. C. Dixon is responsible for the statement that when the British and Foreign Bible Society gave a copy of the Scriptures to each of the graduates of certain Universities in India on the day of their graduation, a free-thinker who desired to give them an antidote to the Bible, presented them with a book on the Bible written by a well-known liberal British clergyman.
