GAS AND AIR MANIFOLDS DO'S AND DON'TS
For good control of multiple burners, equal distribution in both air and gas manifolds is important. Avoid protrusions into manifolds or "elbow" type ends. Uniform distribution requires the same entrance configuration from the manifold to all "downcomers" or take-offs. Generous sizing of manifolds and headers will avoid non-uniformity problems caused by poor distribution to banks of burners. A conservative, but safe method is to install a header with as many square inches of cross section as in the total of all its downcomers.
