MOBILE PHONES
In accordance with the Department ’ s Mobile Phones — Student Use Policy, issued by the Minister for Education, personal mobile phones must not be used at The Lakes during school hours, including lunchtime and recess. The Lakes understands that students may bring a personal mobile phone to school, particularly if they are travelling independently to and from school. In this instance, students who choose to bring mobile phones to school must have them switched off and securely stored in their lockers/school bags/secure storage during school hours.
Mobile phones owned by students at The Lakes are considered valuable items and are brought to school at the owner ’ s (student ’ s or parent/carer ’ s) risk.
SUN SMART POLICY Overexposure to the sun ’ s ultraviolet (UV) radiation can cause health problems including sunburn, damage to skin and eyes, and an increased risk of skin cancer. UV damage accumulated during childhood and adolescence is strongly associated with an increased risk of skin cancer later in life.
HATS From mid - August (exact date to be set by the school annually) to 30 April, all Primary students must wear a sun protective hat that shades the face, neck and ears for all outdoor activities. Hats may also be worn for all outdoor activities outside of the August to April time period, by parent/carer or student choice.
