WELCOME TO THE PRIMARY CAMPUS

At The Lakes South Morang College, we nurture every student’s individual strengths, building their confidence, capability and love of learning through tailored learning experiences.

TEACHING & LEARNING At The Lakes South Morang College, we make learning engaging, purposeful and enjoyable. We maintain a strong focus on literacy and numeracy development for all students. In the early years, students build strong foundations in language through a systematic phonics approach. As they progress through their schooling, this focus expands to include reading comprehension, critical thinking and deep engagement with texts. Across the school, students are immersed in hands-on, rich learning experiences that develop number awareness, mathematical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities. We also support the development of contemporary technology capabilities, fostering creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and innovation through the purposeful use of 21st century digital technologies. AGENCY & ENGAGEMENT The wellbeing of our students is central to our work, and we are committed to ensuring the emotional and physical health, safety and success of every child. Our shared values of Respect, Teamwork, Learning and Leadership are at the heart of a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment that nurtures student wellbeing and belonging. At The Lakes South Morang College, all students are empowered to learn, achieve and grow through high-quality teaching practices and the best possible conditions for learning. We are committed to equipping students with the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed for lifelong learning, enabling them to contribute positively and confidently to the world around them.

TRANSITION Transition is an important stage in a child’s education, and we value parents and carers as active partners throughout this journey. It begins with a positive and supportive move from kindergarten to school, helping young learners build confidence, curiosity and a strong foundation for learning, while feeling safe, connected and ready to form friendships. As students progress through Primary school, we continue to support them in preparing for the next stage. Our Year 5/6 Step Up Program helps students become familiar with the Secondary environment and expectations, building confidence and easing the transition. We also provide an Intraschool Transition Program before the end of Term 4, allowing students to experience the routines and expectations of their next year level. In the final week, Meet the Teacher Day gives students time in their new classroom with their new teacher, supporting a smooth and confident start to the school year. DIVERSITY & INCLUSION At The Lakes South Morang College, we are committed to supporting every learner’s individual needs and strengths. Our approach to Disability Inclusion fosters a strong sense of belonging, enhances social and academic outcomes, and prepares all students to thrive in a diverse and inclusive world. Inclusive education also challenges stereotypes and promotes a culture of respect, empathy and understanding. A variety of dedicated programs are in place to support individual learning needs and maximise each student’s ability to succeed academically, physically and emotionally. Classroom programs are designed to foster engagement through strong oral language development, visual supports, and differentiated learning experiences that enable all students to access success.
