MEET YOUR FUTURE VOLUNTEER LEADERS

Krystal Del Bosque Del Bosque Farms

Krystal is Director of Food & Environmental Safety at Del Bosque Farms in Firebaugh, Calif., a grower of almonds and melons. In this position, she oversees all compliance procedures and performs safety inspections. Krystal earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Affairs, Italian, from the University of California, Davis.

Of all professional sports, baseball is my favorite. There is just something about going to a baseball game, having a hot dog and some yummy fries, and disconnecting for a few hours. It makes me feel like a kid again! I am an LA Dodgers fan, but I have a lot of family members who prefer our rival team, the San Francisco Giants. Nobody’s perfect!

When I’m not working, I love to travel. I’m definitely nomadic in nature. One of my favorite countries to visit is Spain. I feel a strong connection to this beautiful country because of my ancestral lineage. Here I am in the Plaza de España in Seville, Spain. It is a smaller city, but rich in culture, history and of course, delicious food.

I am a self-proclaimed “foodie.” I love to try all kinds of cuisines. In this photo, I went to have Korean BBQ in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Everything had so much flavor, and I liked the interactive dining aspect of grilling your own food.

Meet my cat, Effie. Her full name is actually Elphaba, named after the main protagonist in the musical, Wicked. She’s an adventurous one and can jump very high. I’ve seen her leap right over my backyard fence!

I am in charge of food and environmental safety on the farm as well as social media marketing. A typical work day starts in the fields, overseeing harvest crews and ensuring they are following food safety protocols. I will also shoot content either in the field or at our farm stand for our Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok. I spend the rest of the day at the office and follow up with emails, paperwork, update forms, make calls, etc. I love being able to work indoors and outdoors.

The most important people in my life are my family. They are always there when I need them. I come from a large family… I have 5 sisters! We celebrated Christmas together last year, and it was my first time hosting at my new house.

Krystal is one of nine individuals selected to be in Class VII of the Future Volunteer Leaders, a program that guides the next generation of leaders within Western Growers member companies interested in becoming more informed and effective advocates for the fresh produce industry.
