Joe and Paulliine Troiillo

came around they needed a new rod to fit the family and a ’40 Chevy convertible perfectly fit the bill for cool, but able to fit the family. The ‘80s were a great time to be a street rodder, and the couple enjoyed their time with the young kids, but also made time to not only be members of the Delaware Street Rods and Mid-Atlantic SRA, but Joe was the president of both, and Pauline was the treasurer for the Delaware Street Rods. In the ‘80s street rod shows were kinda two shows in one because you went to the show in the day and looked at pre-’49 rods, then at the hotel there was always a bunch of what were called street machines to check out back then. The couple decided they

wanted to try it out and that this car was going to be Pauline’s. They found a great low-milage Chevelle that just needed a little bit of work and Pauline’s been cruising it for 40 years. As a State Representative the Troilo clan is a regu- lar at the Street Rod Nationals East with Joe and Pauline helping all over the place and Joe letting the Event Directors know what was working for the rod- ders of Pennsylvania. In the early years NSRA awards were geared toward participation rather than the cars themselves and Joe sold NSRA on having Manufacturer Awards, which were awards chosen by manufacturers like Posies, Total Performance, and all the old school names. Jerry Kennedy and Joe com- bined forces to up with the “John Q Rodder Pick” which was just some random guy from registration.
