TED GONZALES New Mexico State Representative
Ted and Linda Gonzales out of Gallup, New Mexico, recently finished the ’41 Ford pickup they received from a family member, and have been perfecting it for the last 18 years. Ted built the parts hauler using a tubular TCI IFS with disc brakes and a Ford differential out of a Lincoln Versailles fit with coilovers and disc brakes. A Corvette LT1 backed up with a 4L60E electronic overdrive tranny spins 17-inch Americans wrapped in Cooper rubber. Ted straightened out the bodywork and laid down the slick black paint, slipped in a ’40 Ford passenger dash, Old Air A/C, EZ Wiring, and an Armondo’s- stitched, light-tan leather interior. Ted told me they made a full spreadsheet on the costs during the build and one thing you (or especially your spouse) never want to know is how much all those chrome and stainless bolts and nuts cost. I love the pickup and will be waving every time I go through Gallup.
LARRY ANDERSON Virginia State Representative
Larry Anderson from Maidens, Virginia, grew up rodding with his brother and friends and hasn’t stopped since. Larry’s current ride is this ’63 Chevy Impala Sport Coupe he has been improving over his three years of ownership. The luxury muscle car features the original (and unique) Code 927 Anniversary Gold paint and power comes from the original 327 engine fit to a 700R4 tranny and kept cool with a Cooling Components two-speed fan. The interior is basically stock black, but Larry added a Dakota Digital HDX dash, an IDIDIT column with a New World steering wheel, and Vintage Air A/C. The suspension has been upgraded with Strange Engineering front shocks and QA1 rear shocks, and it’s all finished off with 15-inch Rally wheels wearing BFG rubber. The Impala looks perfect for cruising cross-country, and I can’t wait to see what has changed over the winter.
