Praise Feels Good

Scripture:

Psalm 100

A s people with nice old cars we are used to compliments: “Nice paint job, who did the work? I love those rims with your car, they look awesome. That’s amazing you were able to fit a 350 engine in there, that must’ve taken some real engineering! Wow, I saw the pictures of what you started with. That’s amazing how you turned something in such bad shape into something so beautiful.” Let’s be honest, it’s great when people see the work we have done and tell us how great it looks. There is something refreshing about being appreciat- ed for our creativity, engineering, and expertise and oftentimes we respond with “Thanks, it was a labor of love.” Remember, God made us in His image. One of the things He asks of His children is that we show our appreciation for His cre- ativity, engineering, and expert- ise. In the Bible God calls this “praise” and when we acknowl- edge these amazing works com- ing from the Lord, it is an act of worship to declare His praise for who He is and what He has done. In Psalm 100 David, a king of Israel, shows us how to praise the Lord: 1)Make a joyful shout to the Lord, [a]all you lands! 2) Serve the Lord with gladness;Come before His pres- ence with singing. 3) Know that the Lord, He is God;It is He who has made us, and [b]not we our-

selves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. 4) Enter into His gates with thanksgiv- ing,And into His courts with praise.Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. 5) For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all genera- tions. Here, David is showing all of us and the people he led that even though he is the most pow- erful human in the land he knows that all his success has come from God, the creator of all things. In Matthew Chapter 6: vers- es 9-13 of the Bible, Jesus teaches His followers how to pray. Many of us today know this as the Lord‘s prayer or the model prayer because Jesus is modeling for his disciples to begin the prayer by praising God. Proclaiming God, as holy, I begin my prayers each morn- ing by praising God for who He is and what He has done. It is amazing when we start our day praising God and remembering the great blessings he has given us, how differently the day goes. Let me encourage you today to take a moment and just praise God for the beauty of creation the blessing of life in the air we breathe. Truly, the creation of earth and mankind are far more intricate and amaz- ing than even the greatest street rod ever designed and built and thus worthy of our praise to our Creator.
